Inexplicable dominance over Miss. State

You can understand how we have dominated them since 2000 because this has been the true Golden Age of LSU football, and they have had some lean years prior to the arrival of Mullen.
However, if you just look at the worst seasons in LSU history, from 89-94 and then DiNardo's last two years, we were still 5-3 against them. Also, if nothing else, the fact that Curley Hallman was 3-1 against Miss. State in itself demonstrates our dominance over that team since they dominated us from the mid-70s to mid-80s.
So, from 1985 to present, we are 27-4 against MSU.
From 1974 to 1984, they were 9-2 against us (on the field, two of their wins in the 70s were forfeited so it's officially recorded as 7-4). I still hate John Bond and Emory Bellard because of that. John Bond went 4-0 against us, and Emory was 5-2 as head coach. We had a real problem with that wishbone crap.

Yea, wouldn't want a fan to overlook the next opponent
That's why the 24 hour rule is in place. His typing may impact his cheering ability on Saturday

It's always amusing when fans act like they played in the game.

I understand. I love history.
Looking at those old scores from the early 80s, I got to thinking about Emory Bellard. The dude invented the wishbone offense, and you really don't hear much about him today. You hear so much about today's offensive geniuses, like your Kellys and Malzahns and Meyers and RichRods, but so much of what they do is based on the work of guys like Emory Bellard. Everyone acts like it's the first time someone ran a "spread" offense. The wishbone was just an early form of the spread.
I remember hearing Joe Paterno talk about his installation of what they called "SpreadHD" back in the mid 2000s at Penn State and he said he based alot of that offense on similar things they were running in New Jersey high school programs when he played in the 40s. He mentioned playing a Vince Lombardi coached HS in the 40s.
It's just interesting to me. Everything old becomes new again.

MSU's best shot to beat us was this year too to get 2 in a row over us. It's going to be tough for them without Dak next year. They havent recruited a QB recently near his level. Think their backup is Damian Harris from here in LA.

I was at LSU for 6 of those torturous football seasons. All I could say was Thank God for State & Tulane every year (and the only 2 wins in the 2-9 debacle of 1992).
ETA: the young pups who have only known the "Golden Years" of Saban through today are so spoiled...

Historically, Miss. St. is a bottom tier SEC school. They only have a winning record against Vandy and .500 records against Kentucky and Texas A & M. However, this streak is interesting. At on point I believe we had won 15 of 16. Some years I thought we had a good chance of losing and won comfortably.
During the time period in question they have been to 12 bowls. We have been the better program for the larger part of the period but 27-4 is probably not the expected result. Hopefully, the domination continues.

Let's narrow our laser-like focus to 1992 - by far, the worst performing LSU football team (although as lovable a bunch of losers who ever suited up to play football) in the history of the program. MSU was ranked 18th coming into Tiger Stadium - early in the season. We went through them like they weren't even there.
So, there's that.

I was there for the four Archer seasons. What started off so exciting and encouraging sure ended about as bad as it gets. The beginning of the end was that 44-3 drubbing to Steve Walsh and Miami.

Throw in Bruce Threadgill(another Louisiana guy)jamming it in the Tigers in the mid to late 70's as well.

I'm glad Dak and Chris Jones are in our rearview mirror. Those guys could compete.

That's our current count. At one point, we had won 21 of 22. Currently we have won 22 of 24.

They are the reverse Arkansas for LSU.
No matter how good they are or bad LSU is.... LSU still seems to win.
Arkansas.... no matter how good LSU is or how bad they are... they always give LSU a tough game (and often win games they should not).
