and your answer is?

it's basically ridiculous to give an answer to a question like that. No one has ever seen Guice play football at this level. And btw, Faulk and Collins weren't really a duo. Collins came in while Faulk was hurt in 1997 after the UTEP game (Cecil was suspended for the UTEP game). Then Collins broke his leg against Vandy, reinsert Faulk . Faulk and Collins played in two games together, against Akron and part of a game against Vanderbilt. Faulk and Mealy, that was a duo.

Why?

Dude from game 1 on the field was unstoppable. Two of those games were against SEC opponents (Miss St and Auburn). He didn't have a "learning period" like Fournette. The guy wasn't a fluke. He proved it by playing good in the NFL even after wasting the next two years in and out of jail or team suspensions.

His off the field issues were no one's fault but his own. I don't have any sympathy for him there because he was given about 6 strikes in his football career. But to see what he did when he was on the field, especially with so much time off between field appearances, it's undeniable what kind of talent he had.

Its a "prediction", nothing ridiculous about it. Faulk/Mealey point is well taken however.

forming a prediction without any substance of which to base said prediction is definitely ridiculous.

I assume you're referring to Guice having no "substance". One can base their prediction on his athletic ability, potential, high school success, accolades from spring practice, etc.

However, even with my comments earlier, to answer the question...

Cecil can't be considered an "all-time" anything for LSU except for "all-time waste of talent".

LSU has no intention of having a Duo at this point and time.

We are stacked with bodies back there.

Darrell Williams killed it in limited action last year and his role will not be reduced no matter who comes in. Kind of insulting on the OP's part to completely dismiss him from the equation altogether.

While Guice has been reported to be doing well in camp...we brought in several other prominent backs who also figure to get some touches and contribute therefore limiting his role especially in year 1.

As a Stable of Horses this backfield stacks up on paper with any committee we have ever had.

I look forward to seeing what they can do however temper expectations. LF7 had an adjustment phase as do many freshman backs.

What a pussy

Why? Because I don't slobber over a dude that had 72 carries against decent competition almost 20 years ago?

8.3 yards per carry is impressive, even if the opponents were not. Your post on carries prompted me to go look at his actual numbers. They are staggering no matter how you slice it.

Yardage wise, he did what Mealey did in 1997 in just those few games with about 40 less carries. Also, he had just 3 carries against Vandy, so it wasn't like he tore them to pieces or anything.

Screw a committee. Fournette should go until he's tired. Take him out, give him a breather, put him back in.

Let's not overthink this.

Lmfao these posts make me laugh. Guice hasn't played a game for us yet so lets see how he does when he steps onto the field.

c'mon man, it's way more fun to make baseless predictions about true freshmen that have never stepped foot on a college football field

or we could do what we do and wait till he's had a few great carries and sit him the rest of the game.

I would prefer to keep him fresh for the 4th quarter the whole season. Especially when I have bodies to spare.

When all your backs are versatile, quick, and 225-230 per; playing wrecking ball on a defense's depth chart can be really fun.

Something about watching morale, spirit, and ability snapping in a succession of plays, drives, and scores really is something to see when it works.

I was at the Miss St. game with Cecil. I was probably 19. Old enough to know football.
Ive played football and watched alot of football (proably way to much). Cecil was on a different level....
Faulk was awesome and a great LSU rep. Fournette is the real deal and will do some special things. The sky is the limit...

But I will never forget being in the upper deck at St. and watching that guy run. Was almost unreal...

Remember that time we kept Jeremy Hill "fresh" for the 4th quarter against Clemson? Remember that time we kept Leonard Fournette "fresh" for the 4th quarter against Notre Dame? Yeah, those were awesome.

Know how I know you never saw Cecil run?

Oh, and the Hilliard/James notation was money.
