Lolno.

MSU under Dunn had some of the better defenses of that time, esp agaist the run.

Auburn had a good D and probably the best LBs in the nation when he broke 200 on them.

Say what you want about Cecil, but the dude ran through contact as effortlessly as I've ever seen at any level.

Valid point ,but I feel like the defense was more to blame for both of those losses.

Probably Jim Taylor/Billy Cannon. Collins/Faulk lasted for a mere flash so nope. Fournette/Guice should make this a real debate.

Why?

Dude from game 1 on the field was unstoppable.

I think Collins would have gone down as the best, he looked like Bo Jackson, but to be fair, it wasn't from day 1, Collins was a redshirt freshman.

Realizing we only got a short sampling of Cecil's skills and Guice hasn't played yet... Just guess - make a prediction.

or you can throw Faulk/Mealey in there if you prefer.

Fournette/Williams/Guice/Brossette/Ducre will be the most prolific stable of LSU running backs since:

Doc Fenton
Elmer Besancon
and Lloyd Paul

from 1908

It's hard to attribute much to Cecil as little as he played, but I've never seen another back have such an immediate impact at LSU in ther first action. Hill and Vincent had great freshman campaigns, but like LF, it took time. Faulk and Collins both were just instant impact from the first carry. They did it in different ways, but both were dominant college backs.

The better question would be Hilliard/ James vs. Faulk/ Mealey . In terms of of scary talent I'd go with Hilliard and Garry James, they could do so many things.

Cecil Collins had 596 total yards during his LSU career. Discussing whether or not he was the goat or half of the goat pair is like saying that a horse that lead the first quarter of the race at the Kentucky derby before he pulled up lame is the goat.

Cecil Collins is a bizarre fetish among LSU fans. Plus, he was a despicable human being.

It's nothing like that, actually.

Exactly. He was the most violent RB I've ever seen. He had one speed, and he didn't care who was in his way.

Faulk at a disadvantage because he is paired with the diesel who was and is an absolute dipstick. So I go with Buga and Guice. Criminals should not be recognized as "greats", Faulk deserves every bit of the praise he receives and more.

Mentioning KF and CC in the same sentence feels dirty.

KF is a top 3 LSU player of all time.

CC is a top 3 waste of talent all time.
