Don't know if we could call that after one batter.

Would have liked to have seen him pitch to the next batter.

He throws 93-94. That doesn't automatically make him a closer.

Are you sure you can be sarcastic about that to this guy? I actually agree. LaMarche has looked the best to me out of the pen. They have only brought him in for situational stuff but I wish they'd let him pitch more.

Definitely a closer possibility. I don't think Cotton is our guy just yet.

Rumbelow is our closer when he is fully healthy. Cotton is our first arm out the pen, Bonvillian is our lefty specialist and Lamarche will likely be a setup.

I really love the talent on the pitching staff this year.

He's a better closer than Cotton.

Rumbelow can't hit his spots. He just rares back and throws. It showed last night and he was rocked.

Lamarche was topping out at 89-90 last night. He was also missing his spots.

In the BYU game Lamarche threw a ball over our catcher's reach, hit the backstop and rolled all the way back to him on the mound. Lol.

I think he has control issues.

Absolutely. That one batter he faced last night sealed the deal for me.

Guys in the sec can hit 94 and flat. Cotton has proved himself over the last 2 years as someone we Maneri can count on. Doesn't have typical closer stuff, but until someone steps up who can pound the zone consistently like cotton does, he is our guy

The closer will be chosen from Cotton, Rumbelow, and LaMarche. I think that Cotton has looked the best so far.

I predict that Rumbelow gets the closer role early on, and Cotton continues to be middle relief/first out of the pen.

I hope that LaMarche can gain a little control and sieze the closer role later in the season so that our staff has 2 great lefties, and 2 great righties waiting in the pen.

I have said it many times. We have two great starters. If LaMarche can close, Cotton and Bonvillian can play LvR matchups, and Bougeois and Rumbelow can play RvL matchups, we will be a regional/super regional host, and hopefully make it to Omaha.

To reply to the pound the strike zone comments,

Pitches/strikes from lastnight.
Nola 101/71; Rumbelow 10/5; Bonvillain 6/3; LaMarche 5/4; Cotton 21/15

Tiny sample size for most of the guys though.

the thing with lamarche is if hes on hes pretty good, but if hes off its bad. remember the friday byu game? he was bouncing fastballs over ty ross's head. I think he'll get more control as the season progresses, especially with coach dunn. IIts just for now i think LSU is best off with cotton at closer
