LSU is the SEC's best chance for the playoffs. If Ole Miss wins out, even with a bama win Saturday, Ole Miss goes to the SEC Championship game. The SEC can not and will not take that $40 million gamble.

Vegas has Bama going to the playoffs twice as likely as LSU

LSU is still the SEC's best chance. You can't justify putting a 1 loss Bama team who didn't even win their division, over a 1 loss Notre Dame or any other one loss teams that did win their conference. It would show extreme bias to Bama, even worse than it did in 2011.

I've seen LSU limp tbeir way through the rest of the season after a loss to Bama, and playing a decent Ole Miss team on the road just might give us our second loss. Despite the beat down at the swamp against the starter QB, Ole Miss could certainly win a rematch in the SECCG.

I don't agree. If Bama beats LSU and then goes on to win the SEC Title game, they will be an extremely strong candidate - almost a shoe-in I would argue.

"Vegas" is simply saying that that is a much more likely scenario than LSU beating Bama and then also surviving the rest of their brutal schedule intact.

I mean, even if you charitably assume 100% chance LSU beats Arkansas and 80% that it wins all other games (including Bama and SEC title against UF), then you still only get a 40% chance of LSU surviving unscathed.

The reality is that LSU is in a very precipitous spot and the odds are not on their side. But, that's why they play the games.

Check back in Saturday night and let us know if you still feel that way. I'd be interested...

And I hope you are right.
