sure, but if I'm continually optimistic every week, only to be disappointed every time, then I'm just a chump.

After a while, the optimism fades, and reality sets in.

Best game of the year...
when USC plays Notre Dame

no matter what, I will be pleased with the outcome.

folks, this is a winnable and a big name match up.
For a 4 loss team, it is as good as we could expect.

you're completely missing the point.

We can love LSU football and at the same time be quite upset about the performance this year. We want our team to play to it maximum capabilities, and we just haven't seen that this year on offense (the defense has improved, so we're all pretty happy there).

When our team plays poorly, I don't just nod my head and keep on smiling. I voice my disapproval. I want us to get better.

What kind of fan am I if I profess to love LSU football and don't care one bit if we look poorly prepared on the field and on the sidelines.

This is the rant.. You are not allowed to do that in here.... Even though I agree with you 100%. The blind homers have NO clue what REALITY is.........This team has TONS of talent and is NOT being coached right.... But I am excited to play ND.. I will watch and yell if I am unhappy and cheer when they do good things...

THAT is what being a true fan is about.....

you have the right to do that...and you should do it.

you are emotionally as well financially vested in most cases.

GTFO. People bitch incessantly here.

And you're just as blind since you call anyone that dares have anything positive to say a homer.

A true fan does not blindly assign labels to someone that says something positive.

ETA: Props to the admins for quickly anchoring all the negative broken record BS the last few days.

Actually, there is a reason to be optimistic about LSU's offense going forward.

Based on what we observed in our last game, the staff finally allowed the standard read option to be an option. I might almost even go as far as to say that there may have been one or two such plays that were an actual read. Lol

But, there are two very important points to be made based on this.

One being that going forward, opponents will have to respect Jennings as a running threat. And the other, maybe even more important fact is that the staff is willing to expose Jennings to injury.

Which means they feel Harris could come in and give the team a reasonable chance to win.

If you still must think pessimistically after this, you could say that the staff only did this because A&M's defense was that bad. Lol

Hell, it's only about 90 minutes from my house. But for chrissake, it's not like I don't already know what our offense is going to look like.

I would love to believe that after a month of extra time, I'll go see the beginning of good things to come going into next year. Instead, I suspect that even if we win, I'm going to walk away having seen a heaping pile of shite on offense.

I just don't get this line of thought. Sure, the offense is boring and not TCU-like. But look at the matchup- it's not like we're facing LSU's or Alabama's 2011 defense.

Notre Dame is soft against the run. That's the one thing we do effectively. They struggle against big-play WRs; we have a couple of those. They tend to make bad mistakes on offense, and we have the top defense in the conference.

I'm honestly thinking this can turn out like the Kentucky game; you step back a little in level of competition athletically, and suddenly you realize the Tigers are not that bad after all.

Um, by definition, if you really are a huge fan of a team, then when they are bad at something, you don't like it.

Whatever drives a person to he SUPER happy when their team kicks arse also has an opposite effect when they do not.

Otherwise, you're just sort of a casual observer. I mean, when I watch FSU play Oregon, I'm going to pull for one of the teams, but I literally won't give a frick 5 minutes after the game regardless of the outcome. If the team I'm pulling for wins, I'll be like, "cool, let me go make some wings". If they lose, I'll be like, "oh well, let me go make some wings".

You either want to watch or you don't, and it seemed like Shorty was saying he doesn't want to watch. I say fine, don't watch. Once enough people decide that LSU football isn't worth their time and stop watching, changes will be made.

It just seems ridiculous for someone to post on here that they "trying to get excited" about LSU playing Notre Dame in the last game for several months.

Watch it or don't, but comments like that just look like pussy-whining, and not really any kind of constructive criticism/analysis of LSU football.

Is there any other reason not to get excited.

Decent stadium. Close to home. Big name opponent. Day trip for you.

LSU plays one more time this year.

I trying to get time to make a road trip to see my Tigers play. You should be pretty damn excited.

Firstly, "quite upset" is relative. I don't curse, throw things, and beat my dog when we perform poorly. I just am unhappy with the performance.

Secondly, sports is different than other entertainment, like movies, concerts, etc. Fans are more emotionally invested in the team. And with sports, there's a winner and loser. It's just different.

I get being disappointed in the team after a loss, but I can honestly say I've never been 'disappointed' after an LSU win - regardless of what the offense looked like.
