We did pretty well with Jamarcus Russell being just a pocket qb, wouldn't you agree?

Yes, but I think Jimbo had his hands on the controls at that time. JR could run pretty good though. Not great but good enough to be a threat. The offensive playbook we had with JR fit him very well. Mile's playbook seems to be more effecient with a running qb. Thats really my whole point with this thread.

I wish....he ripped 5A talent here in Cy-Fair but that game did not translate to the field in SEC football. if he had an SEC level arm he would have gotten his chance long ago. Shep is what Shep is...an explosive but limited talent who gives you everything he has on every snap. I call that a leader.

There's a difference between actual athletic mobility and pocket awareness.

What Mett lacks is both right now. He will look a lot more "mobile" when he knows to GTFO and feels pressure. His athleticism won't increase, but he'll leave the pocket/get rid of the ball that step sooner than he does now that will allow him to salvage some yards. All comes with experience.

the three things you need, in order of importance, to be a great qb.

1)head

2)arm

3)feet

if you possess the first two you can get by.
if you possess the last two you will only get so far.
if you possess the first and last you should play in the ivy league.
if you possess all three....you are diamonds and gold.

geaux Mett.

Cant argue that. Agree 100%.

I think Mett takes a huge step saturday and makes the big plays. I would love nothing more than for him to shut up all the people that think he is overrated.

You shut your whore mouth.

Jk. I think it'd help. But if we fix thd penalties issue, we're in good shape. Everyone calm down.

Statestreet

I would love for them to try him as a WR, just because of his size and speed. Only question is if he can catch, there was a few great WR in the NFL that were QB's in college...

I think so too. Im not freakn out, just thinkin out loud really. It wouldnt hurt our redzone offense at the moment, but I think Mett will make huge strides over the next few weeks and we will cut down on redzone mistakes.

The problem is immediate pressure.

When he's hitting the back of his drop, he's immediately having to move because of edge pressure; usually PA where he turns his back to the D to fake the RB handoff.

If he had 2.5 seconds to look after setting up in the (Hell, ANY) pocket, we would be fine.

JJ blaming that shite on Ware is the entire game rolled up into 1 play. He never took responsibility for his poor play. EVER.

Yeah, I miss seeing a mobile QB throwing an int when he decided to pitch to a RB that had turned his back to block for him.
