1. Allegedly Brick has some family medical issues that have him deeply tied down to Baton Rouge.
2. Intern is the term/position that Brick must be in at this time in order to abide by NCAA requirements.
3. IMO, he is staying at LSU and will be named to a different position once the NCAA approves the additional coaching slot.

ETA: This is one of those rare occasions where it would be better if the Rant would not assume that Miles was insulting Brick by using the term "intern". I don't think it was an insult. And, please don't bash Brick unless he leaves and goes to A&M. He's still a Tiger right now.

^This. Les has got to be pissed off about something. He definitely said intern from watching the video of the presser for the first time a few minutes ago.

So reports are that Miles said Haley referred Steele as DC and spoke highly about him. Then we choose Steele and Miles demotes him to "intern" Yall think he knew about Chavis and kept it hush hush and broke Miles Circle of trust?

It's an administrative holding spot. IMO, once the NCAA vote happens. Brick will be LB coach. When the coaching search began, Miles met with the entire coaching staff, Brick included.

In Brick's current capacity, he can watch film and attend meetings, but he cannot coach.

Keep in mind he has a job offer at TAMU and hasn't taken it, yet. I believe everything was worked out in the beginning. We'll see though.

I took intern as a loophole to keep him on staff until the vote goes in. NCAA comes questioning. Hey he's just an intern rt now.

It was said long ago that we would move one coach to an administrative position until the NCAA raises the allowed coaching staff by one later this year if need be.

We hired Steel and Orgeron wanted to come so we did just that.

Not sure what people can't understand about that.

100% this. I think they have to be careful what they say as there is probably some bullshite rule in place saying you can't officially make moves like this. Brick hasn't lit the world on fire, but he could easily have another job if he wanted.

Agree, the guy is still here and has not bolted. When the NCAA approves 11 he might move to linebackers.

Link?

I've seen reports that Chavis encouraged Steele to go after the LSU DC job, not Haley.

Speaking of Brick, did the super insider who called us all idiots ever eat crow on him not being "already promoted". Would love to hear the spin.

Another possibility is that Chavis and Haley were eased out by design because of OL recruiting deficiencies the last few years. Sounds Machiavelian but it's possible.

I don't think it's the NCAA approving it, it's the five power conferences who are meeting today to set their own rules.

thanks for the clarification. I didn't realize that. The overall point still remains. People need to hold off criticism until we know all of the facts.

I think the five power conferences are also going to approve paying their athletes some amount of a stipend as part of their scholarships. That might come as early as today. The other conferences will be free to do what they want to do but won't be excluded from paying the stipends or forced to pay them.
