Of course I would argue that the game last year wasn't as close as it appeared.

You get no argument from me on that.

Just curious as to what they are saying

1000 men playing banjos will lead WVU onto the field

LSU can't handle their OL, RBS, WRS or QBs

Their defense is the 86 bears while LSU's D is the 2009 Detroit Lions

Moses himself brought their stadium up out of the ground, with a little help from God

and Coach Dana loves him some moonshine

Yeah, we played fairly well, but it was a war.

Wait, you mean fans of a team are being little over enthusiastic about the team ?

Actually it is Peterson doing the Heisman pose that drew an unsportsmanlike penalty that set WVU up on a short field that led to their first score. Both WVU scores were on short field, no long sustained drives against our D.

I have stopped by wemustignitethiscouch and bluegoldnews they seem to think there is no way they will lose to us and seem more concerned about gameday being there than the actual game

At the end of that game they had three drives in a row for the potential game winner and I don't think they got a first down. We were only up by six yet I had no doubt we would win.

The only thing that kept us from winning by three scores was our abysmal passing game.

WVU has a very good QB and some good receivers. The OL sucks, they have no running game, and the defense is weak up the middle.

They only play one half of each game. Hell, they only played 3 quarters total against Marshall. They trailed Norfolk State 12-10 at the half before scoring 45 unanswered. Against Maryland, they almost let a 34-10 lead disappear.

It will take a great game plan by Holgorsen and a superhuman performance by Geno Smith to defeat the Tigers. Having Gameday there and a night game will help them in terms of atmosphere.

I like how they cite LSU beating a ranked SEC team on a Thursday night on the road by only 10 more points than we were favored to as proof that we really aren't any good.

I have noticed this too. You can't reason with irrational fans including ours. You just have to sit back and say "Just wait"

Not sure why lots of fans are writing this down as a win. This is going to be a tough game against a sky high opponent in their own house. Throw Holgersen into the mix and they will score some points.

My wife of 25 years and counting is from Charleston, WV and I know the state very well. Just like LA and LSU, they identify with their team to an extreme. WVU football and the coal industry are who they are. Their relationship with Marshall is similar to our experience with Tulane. A lot of parallels.

I have not found their fans to be as knowledgeable as LSU fans (particularly TR posters), but they do have an obsession with their team. They just honestly do not understand that Big East football is not the same as SEC football.

I just read a thread on there which really wasn't delusional at all. Perhaps there are others which are, however we know we don't have any fans like that. Some of their reasonable fans have a good grasp on things. Of course they're going to be excited and optimistic about their team, they're looking at it as their biggest home game in a long time.

That being said, I think we just wear them down on O, and they have problems moving the ball against us. I think we'll win comfortably, but that's why we play the game.

quote:

I worry that the massive LSU o-line is just going to lean on our smaller defensive line all day for 4 and 5 yard runs. LSU's right tackle literally outweighs Bruce Irvin by 100 pounds. Not only would that serve the purpose of getting enough offense for their amazing defense to rely on, it would also keep our offense off the field, limiting the chances we have against that defense. I'm worried, folks. That said, Les Miles always has some crazy $%^& up his sleeve, so we'll hope for a turnover or two, good special teams, and the homefield advantage to turn the tide.

quote:

The aspect I am most worried about is our defense wearing down, aka T.O.P for LSU. We need to at least make a first down or two on most possession to give a break to our D. If not it will be a long second half. Hopefully score, but that doesnt happen every possession as we know. We can't drop passes like we did today fo sho.

quote:

Though I would love to see us win next week, I have to give the edge to LSU. I am trying to be realistic. We can't run very well at all and probably not against their front 4. If we had problems with runs and screens to the edge with Maryland, LSU will be a bigger problem. They have a better secondary than MD (that can be more aggressive without much of a run threat) and MD had large gaps in our front 3 to run through at times today. LSU is lucky or well coached and will force at least 3 to 4 turnovers. We have to attack fast and in the middle and I'm afraid we won't do that. To many plays to the outside and those lob passes in the end zone need some looking at. The (somewhat)power run looked at little better today with Alston, but still short of what we might need to be LSU. Our D sometimes can't get off the field. I don't think LSU will score at will but their D may keep Geno running a good bit. MD is a pretty good team though and good game before LSU. Now MD is how you run a fast offense. I hope Dana has some cards up his sleeve. It should be a good game but I think forced turnovers might be the difference.
