I'm not an OL guru, but C Charles Turner has looked good to me so far

His snaps have been good and he seems to be holding his own in pass blocking
I'd like to hear from some of you who know more about OL play than I do. How has he looked to you? Is he the answer at C going forward?
TIA

Kelly wanted to kill him after than false start where he slapped the opposing guard.

T-Bob and Hester were praising him yesterday. Apparently he has looked really good so far, which if I'm being honest is quite surprising. Just need to get the illegal procedure stuff down.

I played OL in high school granted that not the best indicator of evaluating OL on a college level, but he seems to have the group more cohesive and communicating better which is more of a centers responsibility. He is not getting obviously beat like Shanahan was and his snap is consistent and good which is most important

Other than the penalties, OL looked pretty good against MS State. That's an SEC DL that returned several starters and are supposed to be pretty good. Probably overrated, but still an SEC line.

Outside of picking up 3 false starts yeah he's looked much better than I thought. Still wondering how he'll do against the upcoming interior Dline guys we'll be facing in the SEC, as thats always I think what has held him back (opposing SEC interior Dlinemen).
Hard to take anything from the Southern game, but in the MSU game he held his own for sure.

I was listening to a podcast today and apparently Charles is one of the main leaders of the room. He's the one that gets everyone into place and they all take notice when he speaks.

I watched some of the '21 LSU/MSU game last night and Shanahan immediately got pushed back 2 yards into the offensive backfield on every play.

Championships are won in the trenches.

Watching from home that was a horrible call. Turner did the right thing there and the refs were wrong.

He’s looked way ahead of schedule.
My biggest take away is his ownership of the position. He’s dialing in so to speak.

This was the single biggest mistake Kelly made heading into game 1. It cost us the game.

Dellinger has the worst grade of the offensive lineman last weekend.

Makes me wonder what changed and why he didn’t get the nod from the start. He looks much better and more comfortable than Dellinger.

Dellinger may have looked better in practice but Turner is killing it the last two games. The line rotations looks to be working and they seem to be gelling which is what we need heading into SEC play.

This. The DL lurched forward, stuck his head in the neutral zone, and Turner quickly made contact.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the head counts as being offside.

I think coach Kelly talked about why Dellinger had been moved to center, and it has to do with the added weight and power needed play center in major college football today, in order to take on big guys over the ball and not get pushed back into the qb. Definitely more of a strength of Dellinger, but Dellinger needed more time to learn the position, and to get the snapping down to where there was less risk of costly miscues. Putting Turner at center was also done due to the problems we had at right tackle. Wanted to push Frazier out there even though he is more of a strength at guard. Turner did a good job against Southern and Emery Jones played better than expected when he came in as second string tackle. Because Bradford was out against MSU, and Jones had a good week of practice at right tackle, they were able to move Frazier back to guard and give Jones the shot at right tackle. I think he definitely surpassed expectations and is going to stay. As good as a run blocker as Bradford is, looks like he may be odd man out for now. As for Turner, he did get bull rushed on a couple of plays against MSU and struggled a bit getting pushed back into the pocket on those plays. He’s not as powerful as a run blocker as Dellinger, but center is his natural position and he has really improved his technique. There is alot that goes into that position, such as being the one that makes the line calls. . Obviously, you don’t always know where everything fits best with so many new pieces and not going full speed in a real games, but looks like they are figuring some things out with newer guys really stepping up their game under the lights. Future is really bright.

You're getting downvoted, but you are correct, the nose guard was offsides and moved toward Turner which Turner HAS EVERY RIGHT to react...the refs blew the call...
