I agree that they weren't great, but they were good enough to win. That's what it comes down to for me. Everyone else see's garbage and I see steps being made in the right direction. I have no doubts we will continue to improve.

I also think losing Dural and not having that deep threat hurt us immeasurably as well. Although Metts biggest problem this year, when he actually had time to drop back and scan the field, was his deep ball accuracy.

dude, you've said whats been on my mind. I think since 2007 we've put em on a pedestal. And they're in our domes. The fans, the players, the coaches.

100% without a doubt. Don't forget though, that Barrett Jones even said LSU is the game they circle every year. Them beating us last year when Les had his shot wrt the doubters has made it that much worse.

I take what B.Jones says with a grain on salt.

Certainly, but on this topic, or how to get away with holding every play and being rewarded for it I believe him.

LSU football is so much better when the expectations on the team aren't as high. This year for the most part was miserable because I thought we had the best team in the country (judging by the early defections we may have had the most talent). I was not at all able to enjoy the 10 win season.

Next year I will be thrilled with 10 wins and a couple of upsets over the big 4 of Bama, A&M, Georgia, and Florida. Some of us look at our schedule and view it as unfair or a hinderance, but after our defections and this obviously being a rebuilding year, it will be instrumental in developing our young talent.

In short, I am very excited to see the young guys develop and more excited to actually enjoy LSU football again.

The amount of rationalization that has been happening in support of Miles and especially now after the Bama stomping of ND is sickening. It's hard to watch LSU football when your face is in your palm more than it's on the screen. With the amount of talent that LSU has on defense and special teams, this should not be the case and should anger all LSU fans who expect excellence in a team that is capable of living up to it.

Serious Question: What does excellence mean to you?
Top 10 offense?
Undefeated BCS champs every year?
What would LSU fans be happy with?

I say all that because the last 3 years regardless of offensive or defensive ratings, etc. We've been a couple plays against bama away from an SEC title berth, in the BCS championship game, and a couple plays against auburn from a berth in the SEC championship game. On top of that we've seen improvements on offense in both playcalling and personnel. My face has been in my palm after every loss, too, but I'm just a glass half full kinda guy...

I can't quantify what excellence means to me. I don't have an expectation on wins and losses or where we need to be in various statistical categories. I just know that I'm tired of watching our offense period and watch the o, who is held back by the coach, hold back the team.

I'd like to go through a season without having a serious and legitimate gripe about overall level of cautiousness or wtf play calling decisions. It appears that in any give game, one or the other is likely to occur and it's unacceptable. I thought crowton was the problem and was ecstatic when he left. Now I see that's not the issue.

I don't want to see Miles go, but I do want him to address the obvious problems and do something about it because my face has been in my palm way more than it should with all the other areas where our team not only excels, but dominates.

I guess Bama, Fla, Georgia, and A&M aren't losing anyone to the draft? Just LSU?

NO! But no other school is even close. Check out players listed by school, that's leaving for the draft on SEC Rant. I think you will recant on your sarcasm. Have a GREAT DAY!
