what would you expect from his head coach. Chances are he will be a very good college player, but you don't see pro football in his future. Note: it could be any 5 schools, LSU may are may not be one of them.

Just thought it would be interesting seeing what people would want for their son in a head coach.

What position does he play?

Is mature or immature?

All I want would be a fair chance at playing time, run a clean program with good discipline. The rest would be up to my son.

a responsible, mature, honest individual who I would trust to ensure my child's:

a. physical safety
b. athletic development
c. academic development
d. personal development

* Roughly in this order. I am primarily responsible for my child's personal development. Incumbent in that is to make him realize that he is primarily responsible for his academic development. Safety and Athletic development are the responsibility of the Head Coach.

If he were an outstanding student I would send him to the best academic school that offered. If not, I would recommend a good school that ran a system tht fit his talent. I would not send him to LSU to sit the bench and be a tackling dummy if he was not gifted enough to earn playing time.

If he is going to be a very good player at a major program, he is a NFL prospect.

If he is a borderline starter at a lower level BCS school, I would suggest he go to the school with the:

1.) HC with the highest integrity
2.) Best academic program in his interests
3.) Most active alumni for life after football.
4.) Safe, family atmosphere.
5.) Teammates that he really enjoys as friends.

If pro football is likely not in his future, then coach is an almost irrelevant factor in my decision. Coaches change jobs so frequently that there's a good chance he wouldn't be the coach for the entire 4 years anyway.

Since they're all major programs, I'd probably base the decision on location, academics, & facilities.

for player's dads...

as to the OP, if he virtually had no shot at the NFL, then I would lean to the school that provided the best academic opportunity for whatever field he intends to pursue. Beyond that, it would be a feel thing.

I love LSU, but if my son had the option of a Stanford type school, that would be a tough choice.
