If it were up to you, who would you start Friday?

My vote would be for Poche. I don't like the idea of not getting all three of our weekend guys to throw if we sweep the regional. Consider the scenario if we pitch one of the weekday guys and we win in 3 (Poche and Lange throwing the others), then go to the supers and win in 2. Every chance that Walker doesn't pitch until the CWS. That would be worrisome for me. I realize that in that scenario CPM could chose to throw Walker in game 2 and also sure that the plan for said scenario is already in place. I just think getting out to an awesome start in game 1 is important. What does the rant think?

Gilbert. Especially if the weather is bad.

Start Gilbert. If the offense takes care of business early, turn it into a full midweek-style bullpen day.

Gilbert starts and Pederson takes long relief

But if I have to pick from LSU, Gilbert.

Pitching by whole staff/committee... save the starting arms!

This is logical thinking. Poche can come back on short rest Monday if we need him, but you don't go into the weekend holding out Walker until Monday. Especially with the big possibility that he won't throw in supers either.

This is said a lot, and I honestly am asking because I don't know, but even if Walker doesn't start game 1, why couldn't he come in for relief in any of the games if he needed a few innings of work each week? (Unless, of course, the starting pitchers pitch complete games every games, which I would think is highly doubtful).

I want to save Gilbert. Especially if rain cuts Lange's or Poche's start early, I want him to be the first one out of the pen.

Hess/Gilbert combo. Don't care who starts but give each about 4 innings.
Newman in the 9th just to stay fresh

Poche isn't gonna happen. And really didn't need another thread on it

Also this. Why burn one of probably two guys(Gilbert, Hess) who are best suited to go multiple innings in relief? You also risk Walker not pitching for almost a month, and having no postseason experience once he steps on the field in Omaha.

Because he may be needed to start the if necessary games.

You can still get walker work I, relief if need be. You make no sense as usual.
