so what school would want him?

plenty of schools would take him

maybe not big schools, but plenty of smaller schools would take Jennings

he is still quite a good athlete

Unless he is on track to graduate early, wouldn't he have to go to a lower division school to even be eligible to get playing time? What would that do for him? He's a top level athlete, even if he's not a top level QB. If he's thinking of his best chance for a career in the NFL, he needs to explore other positions, not another school.

Just my opinion.

Not sure if Jennings would actually transfer, but I feel like bringing in Etling is Les taking out an insurance policy in case he does. Jennings wouldn't have to sit out if he transfers to an FCS school.

Don't get me wrong, I would love for him to stick around since he has knowledge of the offense and has a good amount of time invested in our program. But, with the Purdue kid coming over and McMillan here now trying to become the next number 2, he's got to begin to feel crowded atleast, and this is before Franks even steps on campus.

We'll nearly be at the same position with QB depth in 2016 if Jennings leaves.

Not really true, Etling will be eligible plus McMillian and Franks.

As opposed to just Harris and Jennings for this year basically

Jennings still has a redshirt year he could use at a D-1 school, making him a 5th year senior if he were to sit out a year.

Honestly I think everyone should change their tone. Regardless of what you think about the guy personally he still would be a great backup if he were to not get many snaps.

Guys on the team like him, and I think it is better that we as fans do not push him out, simply because he does not start Game 1.

But to answer the OP, he will guranteed see the field, even in a limited role I put it at 10% he transfers.

Are we bringing in only Franks this year? I thought Cam really wanted two qb's atleast in this recruiting class

I know everything is speculation right now, and CLM hasn't named a starter, but humor me for the moment. Since it seems Harris has the keys to the offense right now, and if he proves to be a serviceable qb at the least, when does Jennings see the writing on the wall that his playing days at LSU are over barring injury to the starter, and jump ship to find playing time else where? What says the rant?
Ever have that feeling of déjà vu. Oh wait, this did happen before:

If Harris is named the starter, Jennings is in the same position as Lee in 2009 and 2010. He's one play away from being the starter.

And I'm a big Franks fan, but he will not be second in line behind Harris next year. He will be a true freshman, and Jennings will be in line to play before Franks.

Etling is sitting out this year as a transfer, but can play two years here after that. If no one leaves, our QBs for 2016:

Jennings SR
Harris JR
Etling JR
McMillan SO or RS FR
Franks FR

By far not a Jennings fan.

But I recognize he's a 20 year old kid who made some mistakes both in and off the field. He should stick it out, get a degree and do something else.

But we shouldn't throw him to the wolves. We have enough depth at QB to give the kid that, no?

You act like you want to throw a 20 yr old kid to the wolves.

You make a good point. We as LSU fans have seen this before, but different people different and different circumstances. I hope Jennings sticks around ultimately because he is a good kid, and as long as he keeps a good attitude the locker room can only benefit from having him around, plus if we need him on the field.

AJ is not going anywhere this year. Harris is still unproven and Jennings will play some.

Now if Harris takes the reins and only an injury would get Jennings on the field, he will definitely leave at end of year and go play his last year at a 1-aa school

AJ's best bet is to play CFL ball.

Even if Harris is great all year and injury free(two unknowns), I believe AJ would get some snaps in some blow out games. If this happens, he may want to play a year at a smaller school or perhaps hang around. I don't see him as an NFL player at any position and what new position would he even attempt...LB? I think his best chance of playing is at QB.

Jennings will play this year, how much you want to bet the first time Harris struggles Jennings comes in?

No, he won't be a great backup. Serviceable, maybe, but he's simply not an SEC-caliber QB. Remember that he was rated near the very bottom of FBS QBs last year.

"Fans" can't push any player out of the program. And even if we could, we wouldn't do it "because he doesn't start game 1." He's just not good.

And none of this is personal.

Posters like tigerclaws15 and monsterballads believe that the wolves are too good for Jennings.
