I love what they did last year. They freshened things up a bit, but still kept close to tradition while doing it. I would really like to see the white helmets two times per season, paired with purple for one home game, and then either a white or gold jersey for another.

I really like the richness of the "Old Gold" lids. I do think it is to far removed for LSU to use them, except on occasion. However, I really wish the Saints would use a brilliant Gold shell, compared to the weak, pale gold shade they have morphed into over the years.
Think Notre Dame golden domes; with the shiny gold pants too. I absolutely cannot stand the those pale "tan" pants the Saints currently wear.

Agreed. Look, I'm all for tradition, but you can't be so locked in to something just because it's been done that way for years. With that thinking, nothing would ever change, anywhere.
There were plenty of uniform changes from the mid-50s to mid-70s. Hell, the helmet changed many times during those years. We went from old gold, to current yellow with numbers on the helmets, changed the helmet number font, changed to a really bad Tiger logo, then to helmet Mike with LSU letters above it. Shoot, we even tweaked Helmet Mike a couple years ago. And changed the font on our jersey numbers a couple years ago, as well. We've changed the position and length of the shoulder stripes more times than I can count.
Things change. I've got no beef with people that love our "traditional" uniforms, but they shouldn't be resistant to change just because it's change.

I've seen worse. At least this uniform does incorporate LSU colors, and has no colors which are not traditional.
IMHO the throwback uniform the Tigers wore against Arkansas in 2009, and the alternate vs. S. Carolina last year (white pants and headgear, with the traditional purple jerseys), were the most attractive alternate styles in the Tiger uniform canon.

In relation to this OP's idea of all gold (yellow), the beef I have with people using tradition as a reason to poo-poo the idea is that this tradition was partly started with all "gold" uniforms.
If it's such a big deal, you'd think some of these people would do some research

Are we talking all gold like West Virginia or like a Michigan/notre dame but instead of their navy and/or blue jersey we use purple on top of gold/yellow pants? * Not including helmet color*
