Yes I do.

I'll take someone who is around the coaches the team, practices and does this for a living over some wanna be on a mess board.

That's just me though.
No surprise at all if you don't.

Melvin Gordon is going to embarrass Welter, so I think this will be short lived.

I'm glad to see you get in personal pissing matches that derail discussions in threads where you are the OP. I was thinking you only did this to everyone else's threads.

That's a stupid comment! There are solid lb'ers on a lot of bad defenses. Great lb'ers make defenses better, they don't blame tackles for keeping blockers off! Geez
Willis was a monster on Ole Miss teams. They make plays regardless.
Are you insinuating that Welter would be All American if playing in Minter's place?

It's not a stupid comment.
It's a football defensive fact.

not getting into scheme in this post, you either understand the role of DT and how it effects lb play or you don't.

Way to extrapolate a point. You should take your own advice.

I don't understand what is so hard for some to grasp that the DTs play last year was subpar and how that can have an effect on the LBing group behind them.

Last year, ego and freak combined for like 70+ tackles instead of 55+ each. That's what a solid DT group at LSU produces.

Okay what is the deal with Beckwith? This guy came in with all the hype of being the savor at MLB. I know we put in at the DE spot at first then back to MLB. Does he just not have the tools that we all thought? Is he just not picking up the scheme that one needs in playing the middle? Is Welter just that hard to de-throne at that spot?

DJ is alpha at setting up the front 7 and the other Mikes weren't really close to his consistency.

IMO, we will need better MLB play than he will be able to deliver because of the DT rotation needing time to develop. Good LB play can help to make up for weaknesses at the Tackles but poor MLB play just opens up the middle for RBs jusr like we saw last year.

Meh, I think this will be one of the better years for LB's at LSU. If Welter wants to keep his job he better bring his A game every play

Bitch please. Yes, it is a fact when in that defensive set that DT are placed to make it difficult to get to the lb'er.

But it is NOT fact that there aren't great lb'ers on shitty defenses or defenses with weak tackles!

Yes, it is STUPID to say that. If you think otherwise, you don't know shite. It's amazing that someone tries to make jokes about an Xbox but sits at a computer all day thinking he is some sort of "expert" You have an argumentative approach for some reason, when people who know the game can see who has "it" and who is just serviceable.

Great players play great! PERIOD! Great LBers make shitty defenses better, not wait far a good DT so they can make outstanding plays. If you think Welter will look like a great player with better DT's, you will be sadly disappointed.

There were plenty, probably 10s if not a hundred, of situations last year where Welter had a chance to make a play and did NOT, or made it down field because of his lack of intangibles.....I dare you to watch a game and not find those. I personally hope the guy is an All American, but I know what to expect when my purple glasses are off.

I'd like to know how often you think LSU has had a solid group of DTs. Because there's only been about 3 times in the last decade that two DTs have been close to 55 tackles each.

Granted those 3 times were some of the best defensive units ever, but there have been plenty of good defenses in between.
