Let the divisional record determine the division representative to the SEC championship game.

And this may be the way to go on a permanent basis. It will remove any perceived "unfairness" that occurs with permanent and rotating cross-divisional games.

Yep, exactly what it should be. The division winner represents in the SECCG against the other division winner.

We've said this for years I believe

It won't happen

It's definitely more fair to do it that way, but the SEC wants the crossover games to be just as critical as intra-divisional games (for TV, fan interest, etc).

They are still pretty important from a playoff and "NY's Six" bowl perspective.

No, it's not.

The best solution is to fix the thing properly and tell Alabama if the want to play Tennessee and Allbarn every year, move to the EAST.

If not, then rotate cross division opponents.

And in the case if this years fiasco, only three options:

1- play December 3
2- Florida forfeits
3- use "losses" rather than winning percentage for this one year, so 7-1 and 6-1 are "tied" and then head to head breaks.

well, Auburn's in the West, but whatever.

Major problems with each of these options. Simplist option is to play this game on Nov. 19 and have the SEC payoff USA and Presbyterian. Yes, I realize we lose a home game, but I'm just looking at this from the SEC's viewpoint and what I think they'll do.

I think what the poster is getting across by Bama moving to the East is that they would play Tenn every year as a division opponent. Then they would play their cross division rival Auburn every year and then rotate with other West division teams every year. It keeps Bama two rivals intact which is what they ultimately want.

Absolutely makes sense and it won't be done. SEC will claim that to do so encourages cross division teams to avoid a game if at all possible. This game should have been played. UF stalled and SEC made no contingency. Now LSU and others will have to sacrifice something to make up for UF and SEC failure. Mark my words.

Never understood why the inter-division games would affect who went to the championship between the divisions.

No, by moving Alabama and Aurburn to the East, Alabama will play Tennessee and Aurburn every year, and Auburn will play Georgia every year, which is also one of the games that both teams want to play every year. Then you can do away with a permanent cross over game. With 2 rotating games, schools would play every school at least every 4 years.

If you want to keep the divisions balanced all you need to do is swap Alabama and Georgia.

Ala gets Tenn in division and can have Aub as cross rival

Ga gets Aub in division and Fla as cross rival.

All the other schools can reshuffle cross rivals as needed.

Edited to swap Ala instead of AU. This covers all the rivals stated above.

I mean their actual reasons are because of rivalries, so if they're rivals it should stand on its owb
