I think Aranda's defense was very base against Tennessee Chattanooga

He was not going to show too much.I think you will see a defense this week like we seen against Louisville and BYU. He will have his Tigers ready to hunt

He probably hasn't left the film room getting ready for MSU.

He looked pretty angry during the game. There were some struggles and I don't think they can be put on vanilla gameplanning.

He didn't really need to show that much against Chatt. With that being said, you can tell that Lawerence was missed on the line.

He almost has to run a very base defense with all the freshmen that are playing. Probably doesnt want to put too much on them too early.

I expect once Key and some other guys get healthy or start playing, we'll see more of what the D can do.

Get Arden and Lawrence back and we'll be much improved.

I do know that we were giving them a lot of time to throw early in the game, especially the first drive.

He basically only used 3 calls for BYU, he added a little more complexity to it for Chatt and there were many errors which led to his frustration.

The start of the game on D was weird, but he looked very unconcerned on the sideline.

DEF has the ability to be very dominant vs MSU. Wouldn't surprise me to see DA tinker with keeping 4 LBs on the field - Key, Thompson, D. Alexander and White - with 2 DL (Lawrence & LaC/E. Alexander) - 5 DB's to give them a different, very fast, and ATH look. Stuff the spread and get after their qb.

This DEF's best FB is still ahead of them IMO.

The SECN guy's were saying he ran the D out of 3 formations against BYU but was opening it up against Chattanooga bc of the shifting O they run.

I never thought of that. That's some pretty cool football knowledge right there.

The announcers said he told them he was basically calling only about 6 plays since he wanted the youngsters to fly and not think too much. Just wanted to let them work in the base.

Going to have to see what he brings against MState, cause it was weird watching. As soon as Thompson was crushing it off the edge, they would stop it, and just run edge contain. Same kind of stuff on offense, though, as Davis would burn them deep and then go ghost protocol . You could sense they were tinkering with a lot of plays/players to see what worked, but seemed only a trial either way. They did stick with Chark on the punt returns, but were switching field goal kickers almost out of necessity. Don't know if everything was mostly experimental, or they were just looking at who could perform under the lights, or giving a little taste to recruits on hand, but we shall soon see. The only real trouble beside kicking was the lines, esp the defense, but not exclusively. Only real standouts were Alexander, k'lavion, and Thompson. We will be hurting with Locature and Gilmore on the field. Got to get Herron, Lawrence, and Key back healthy for any run. No sense playing them against Chattanooga, but will need them against State.

We need rashard and Ed in the game clearly. Gilmore was pushed around.

He wasn't showing his hand. MSU will get the business, though.
