I see now why CLM may be a bit circumspect with the passing game

BH is much better, but still needs a good deal of finishing. He made some bad decisions like the hospital ball he sent to his tight end. He needs to be able to read the defenses better. That said, he has improved much and will only get better. If the passing game goes legit, no team will stand a chance against LSU.

A lot of QBs may not have seen that one coming. Give defender credit, he left his man and came from other side of the field to land that hit. Doesn't always happen. Harris was 12 - 17, and really only had about three missed passes. Two to Dural in the end zone, and I can't remember the other one. Dupre dropped a beautiful laser pass on the sideline when Harris scrambled to the right. Pass was dead on. Announcer almost crapped himself when he threw it. The other drop was the big hit. Jester came down with it, controlled it, and let go when his head bounced off the ground. One was a tough catch, but all were catchable. Harris was slightly off last night, but still threw more than enough accurate catchable balls.

I'm so tired of this, it's not like the dude was right up on him when he made the pass like a boom boom thing. Watching the Nebraska/Miami game on the last drive to tie it, Armstrong threw a deep pass splitting two defenders and a guy collided with the safety (who was called for targeting), held on to the ball, but did get hurt. They needed that crucial play. Remember Landry making a play when Mett threw it into 3 defenders. Even knocked his helmet off.

Jeter got the wind knocked out of him, it happens. Sometimes you have to make these plays in the game. Sacrificing your body like when QBs step into throws KNOWING they are about to get jacked up. It's football man, and Danielson sounded like a puss.

It is also much harder for a qb to get into a rhythm when you don't throw that much. Sort of like shooting a basketball.

But we won in dominating fashion so I'm happy.

Great comment! Absolutely true. It was a great pass. QBs sacrifice their bodies all the time to make those throws. Jeter needs to hold on to the ball - although I do understand him dropping it. He got lit up. But, that is football.

Harris did that once, not over and over. The criticism is undeserved.

Dupre dropped a great pass to him on the sideline.

The only bad pass that I can think of was the one to Dural in the end zone. But, that needed to be dropped in over the defenders. It sailed a bit. A lot of that comes from adrenaline in the moment, not a lack of skill. Harris will calm down with more experience.

This next stretch of games is where he can get this worked out. We still could have used the McNeese game to get him more reps.

Replay showed he really had nowhere to go with it. Probably should have run that one.

If Fournette had cut right for crossing pattern on that play, it could have been a big gainer.

Right now, I'm leaning more to it being a problem with play design or receivers running the wrong routes than anything else to explain our lack of downfield passing.

I'm just happy we have LF to make his job easier to grow into a game manager QB that we need.

Actually, what I saw was he was late on his delivery. If Harris throws the ball right after Jeter makes his cut (He has immediate separation on the cut that widens shortly after) I think that is a completion albeit with a hard hit after but Jeter would not have been stretched out. I do believe that will come with time and rather quickly I hope.

I honesty feel that we'll use the upcoming part of our schedule to work on the passing game. I think that's been the plan all along. We were supposed to use McNeese for that, but you know how that turned out.

Once Harris gets a little more polished and we balance our offense, the SEC as we know it is completely fricked.

quit making excuses, the coaches should have had him ready a few days after he arrived on campus, but they're stuck in the 70's!!!

I think you keep doing what you're doing next week and then give the East Mich game to Harris

Hats off to Brandon for playing and commanding a great game. He didn't turn the ball over which is a huge positive. Once again he executed what was asked for him.

Les Miles reservations to open up the passing more? What I see is that Brandon tends to miss on the high side when he is a little off. This can lead to tipped balls and interceptions especially over the middle of the field in the 15+ yd range pass plays. This is just adrenaline and excitement that will settle down with time. Brandon is a very exciting player to watch though and is going to be something special (like the rest of this team).

So far, with Harris is the only problem, he is throwing late on downfield passes. Not all, but hasn't thrown many as of yet. The timing will come, the talent that we expected is there, just a matter of time.

Pretty sure he caught the ball but couldn't get his feet inbounds. It would have been an amazing catch if the wr managed it.

Harris made a number of bad passes. And "sailed a bit" is a dead giveaway that you are lying to yourself.

Our next couple of games will be a balance of keeping LF Heisman discussions going and fine tuning the passing game...BH has not had the cup cake games other QBs like Kelly has had to get his timing down with real game competition and speed. His first game action has been against two conference/division foes who beat us last year...BH will be just fine...by the way, thus far no picks thrown..
