What I noticed is that when we had an incomplete pass on 1st down it made it alot harder to convert on third down. Much more effective to run on 1st down even if only 2 yard gain.

I agree. Run on first, pass on second. Don't wait until third and long to pass. With our running attack, we could make a living off of the play action.

And (I know, ifs and buts, and all that) if Jeter just makes that completion, and Chi makes that other drop, Harris' stat line looks more like 14/17, closer to 120 to 130 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT (No LSU turnovers in 2 SEC-W games, BTW - and penalties were cut in half from the first game to the second - Good luck or evidence of "coaching").

Still not a wide open offense based on yards, but very close to a passing attack we can scale up as necessary.

And there is nothing to say that Harris can't work on the overthrows and reading defenses - he's 19 for pete's sake.

Harris played great in the 2nd half. First half against sec team that beat him last year. I can understand him getting the jitters. He's also very afraid to turn it over.

First half, He overthrew the fade route in the end zone and the throw to Dural near the end zone was open but he threw it where only Dural could have gotten it and no one else.

2nd half, his throws were great. On the money but were dropped.

Not bad considering him and his receivers look like they have little "game" chemistry so far due to the 80% run / 20% pass ratio. Through the first two games, I think he's been very efficient. Like Lee in '11.

thats the risk you run when you throw it over the middle

Exactly- Are we just to stop all passes over the middle? It was just one play...

Two to Dural in the end zone, and I can't remember the other one.

Another one was a slant. He threw it behind the receiver.

He is a first-time starter. What has our record of performance been with first-year starters? EVERY one of them has problems.

Mauck, Jamarcus, Flynn (took a few games to get sea legs), Lee, Jefferson, Jennings.

Mett was a junior college qb. He was way ahead on the learning curve.

They need to mix in more pass plays to give the QB and the receivers practice, timing, rhythm, and confidence. They aren't going to be able to just run and beat everyone. Hopefully, they will do that these next two weeks to improve the passing game. They will need it with the tougher SEC teams down the stretch. They can still be heavier with the run, but need more balance than they have. With Fournette, they should be able to play action out the arse with the passing game. LF will get his yards as long as he stays healthy, but they will need to pass more often than they have. If they can get consistent balance on offense, they can go very far this season. Miles please don't let make this offense we one dimensional!

He looks to improve week to week. The next couple of games could be a nice chance to do a lot of different things...
