I remember watching Virginia Tech playing a tropical storm years ago and was amazed at how well their feel drained.

Moral of the story? Stop being such pansies. If Florida wants to go ahead with it we go ahead with it.

I don't think we have a problem with playing there, it's just the fact that there is a possibility of a canceled game which would be negligence on UFs part.

The main concern, at least for me, is the game getting cancelled or posponed.

Eta: Papapogey beat me to it.

Well, I agree that if they push to have it we push to play it I don't care if it takes a direct hit at half time.

the atmosphere is going to be crap regardless of venue. UF fans are pretending we're trying to game the system by adding a home game.

The reality is its going to really suck if their arrogance causes a cancellation or postponement when this could have been easily avoided.

What's the big deal here? They've played the Hurricanes every year since 1992. What's a plain ole tropical storm going to do to them? Haha.

I'm not so sure they played a tropical storm?

I mean, they play Miami a lot soooo I guess you're somewhat right.

It's not about game conditions. It's about the safety concerns of the team having to travel all over the state within 24 hours of a cat 4 hurricane. Florida will be a mess.

I'd feel a million times better if there was a guaranteed backup plan given that Gainesville becomes a no go. But for some reason, Florida's administration seems adamant not to plan for a possible less than desirable outcome with the storm.

Dumb. Blacksburg is like 300+ miles from the coast.

It's gonna be wet but unless the storm turns that's it. Maybe power outages. Their fans will be affected.

I'm pretty sure LSU played in a tropical storm/hurricane at UF in 1972. Think a guy named Bert Jones was your QB. Think it was a 3-3 tie game.

"He said the system worked well in 2003 when Virginia Tech played Texas A&M during Hurricane Isabel. "

The game is not the issue. Getting there and getting out is the issue. For both teams and fans.

Yeah, a high end Cat 4 that will be churning near Miami in about 16 hrs. I'm stunned UF is being this stupid about the situation.
