If Hickey was on this year's team, I have a feeling we would have been undefeated going into SEC play and we would have beaten Mizzou by 10+. Josh Gray is a definite downgrade compared to AH. It pisses me off that he was dismissed.

Hickey would've pulled up against West Virginia.

No, we would be 11-3 and have no win over WVU to bolster the resume, Gray is no worse than Hickey, both are inconsistent point guards who turn the ball over too much and take terrible shots

And probably would have still hit the shot. Hickey had some game winners under his belt here.

Hickey was able to create turnovers and find the open man either on a fast break or the open 3 point shooter. I'm to the point where I think Patterson should be our starting PG.

He and Johnny didn't get along and he's not exactly setting the world on fire at Okla St.

I think we haven't seen the best of Gray yet. He has shown the ability to get into the paint which Hickey didn't do at all. Also, his defense is much better than Hickey on the ball, Hickey got plenty of steals but he was a liability on the ball against big, athletic guards. I agree that Gray was terrible last night but I don't think Hickey would be a better player for this team in the long run.

Maybe it's just his demeanor but it appears Gray doesn't give a crap where at least Hickey played with a passion for the game.

Having Hickey on the team would lead to at least 6-10 more possessions per game. He did not turn it over and he applied ball pressure to force turnovers (even when it did go down as a steal).

Before anybody talks about size, I saw TQ (at least once) and other go under ball screens last night and give up shots. When you go under ball screes (as opposed to having the off ball defender hedge and the on ball defender work to get over the screen), size really doesn't impact the shot.

Hickey was 2nd in the SEC in Asst:TO ratio last year (the only person who was better was a backup that played 18 mpg in contrast to Hickey's 31 mpg) He had 40 turnover ALL of last season. Gray already has 43 in 12 games this season. He averages nearly 4 TOs per game. Worst of any SEC PG by a significant amount. To contrast, Hickey averaged only 1 per game

Size was the bullshite excuse that everyone who didn't pay attention complete lack of effort and execution on the defensive end used to explain LSU's problems.
