ok, i watched it as i was watching the baseball game. i just had to see it again because the damn aggies that live in my neighborhood have revised the game so much i needed to refamiliarize myself with it to defend the outcome. basically, jff and the aggie defense monopolized us for the first and early part of the second qtr. BUT, they scored only 12 points. then our defense took over and our offense, as inept as it was, did just enough to put 24 points on the board. our d not only contained jff he was lucky, damn lucky, to only throw 3 interceptions. he threw the ball a lot when he shouldn't have and got lucky as hell on a number of occasions. AND, our O line was pretty makeshift. overall, if we had had a cohesive offense that game would not have been close. lastly, the guys they lost are going to hurt them a lot this year. swoops and their DE will be missed sorely. also, the chief is one hell of a DC. the adjustments he made after the first quarter were just genius. when we started hitting mandel, he started throwing errant passes. i think a&m may not fare nearly as well this year as last; that is if the DC's in the league have the players to contain jff like we did. i can now tell these history revising ags that they were the lucky ones to only lose by 5 pts. i am damn tired of them trying to "prove" they beat us.

It's so hilarious how they try to brag to us about athletics. Have they beaten us in ANYTHING this year? Football, no. Basketball, no. Baseball, no. Tennis, no. Swimming......maybe......

Going to 3 down lineman was the key. Really started shutting him down at that point.

How I remember it is that chavis had a great gameplan. Three down lineman and contain jff. We should have been able to run the ball better and dropped passes killed the offense.

yup. but he also had lb's and safeties at the line sometimes blitzing and sometimes not. i think he confused the hell out of the aggie OL and jff. of course our db's were gold. i think lsu's experience in playing west virginia and oregon really helped us, coaches and players. personally, gino smith of wv burned us more than manzele.

Manzel was so tired after the first half, was the difference. Our guys chasing him around, even though he broke our D-line ankles in the first half, payed dividends...

I have the same problem with Aggies and totally agree with your assessment. Their talk of winning the National Championship is obnoxious!

not really. i only saw one that hurt us. but, sadly, mett missed a number of open receivers. he overthrew them big time (i'm sure that is no surprise). but he also threw some big time on the money passes at the right time. the problem was, we didn't run that many plays. i'm hoping and praying this years offense will be much better.

I've lived in Texas for a long time and always found aggies to be the most delusional, revisionist fanbase in sports. Nice folks otherwise, though.

They lost at home. They don't have an excuse. Little johnny isn't going to surprise anyone this year.

It appears you are focusing on all the positives of LSU in that game and none of the negatives.

That's the same thing your Aggie neighbors are likely doing but for their team. It's a pretty normal thing for fans to do.

Good win y'all had and y'all by far played the best game defensively against Manziel.

I look forward to Nov 23 for the rematch

Iirc, what the players said chavis told them to do was to keep jff if front of you at all cost (that seemed to be the adjustment) Also, iirc, there were plays where it seemed like jff had like 10 seconds to throw the ball, but either eventually got sacked/picked/ Run out of bounds

I just remember thinking our defensive scheme looked night and day different from the start than at finish. I remember thinking chavis should be the MVP of that game.

The Aggies had a touchdown called back early in the game. Had that not happened, I wonder if LSU could have rallied.

Had a chop block called. It was a good call but it was on the other side of the field from the play.

Boneheaded plays like that hurt.

But for the entire game LSU had more penalties so while that play was very very costly, I can't complain too much about penalties

Both teams missed a FG in the game too iirc. Not either of our best efforts.

The TD pass at half from Mett to I think Landry was nails. Not sure why y'all's QBs/WRs decide go have career days against us reminded me of JJ and TT80 in the Cotton Bowl

If that game was played 10 times, each team would probably win 5. A&M's overall place in the SEC is shaky. Aggie fan has a lot of reasons they say they will be near the top of the SEC in the near future, and fans of the traditional SEC powers have a lot a reasons that they won't. Arguing of non-falsifiable points is boring in my opinion. What cannot be argued is that they had a remarkable 2012 season, by their standards, and I am very interested to see if their success will maintain after Manziel leaves sometime in the next few years.
