I Just Want to Make a Couple of Things Clear

1. LSU is in the SEC and is there to stay.

Both of Mr. Rabalais' articles in the Advocate were only meant to provide a 2-part series addressing the hypothetical arguments for both staying and leaving. However, because they came out a day apart, and the more taboo subject of leaving the SEC came out first, an uproar ensued among our fan base and throughout the other fan bases on this site.

That being said, the articles were unnecessary IMO, and have led the better majority of this board and the SEC rant to focus mainly on the first article, as to construe it as the voice of all LSU fans glorifying Alabama and whining about how life isn't fair for us.

LSU is a founding SEC member, and has too big of a following to abruptly leave its roots. Because of recent success, both internally at LSU and throughout the rest of the conference, an aura of greatness has been associated with the SEC, thus giving more credibility to the conference and allowing more room for error with regards to blemishes on our record. Essentially, the SEC has been given an "automatic bid" to the MNC with all its recent success. Not only has this helped establishing a brand of football that the rest of the country envies, but it has also helped in areas such as recruiting, in that star high school players from across the country strive to play in the best conference in the nation.

It would make no sense to leave the situation we are in.

2. "Dynasties" are cyclical in nature.

Those of you who consistently whine about Alabama, for a variety of reasons, while at the same time complain about how LSU is "second-fiddle," need to understand that success doesn't last forever.

It will be difficult for ANY coach to step and and replace Les Miles AND/OR Nick Saban. Because both coaches are nearing the age of retirement, the level of dominance sustained by both programs in the last few years will inevitably come to an end (though, not necessarily for a long period of time).

Exhibit A: Florida the few years after Spurrier.
Exhibit B: Alabama the few years after Bryant.

Point is, we can make all the excuses we want, the upper echelon of SEC teams will rotate soon enough, and our level of hate will rotate toward those teams that surface to the top.
