I've never heard a bad word about Hawthorne as a person & I know many people in both the Alumni arse. & in the Athletic Dept. In all the yrs he's been doing LSU playbyplay, he seems to be well liked & respected by those that know him. A friend was talking to his wife in the mall a few yrs ago, the nite before a LSU function, and she said that he really hates all the "suit & tie" responsibilities & would rather just stay home when not calling games.

He might not be technically sound or the best at "play by play" but in big moments, he's as good as anyone in the country.

I agree with this, but there are times where he just doesn't describe what is happening on the field. It's frustrating to listen to him when you are not able to watch the games.
I'm not taking away that he is likely a great person, and he does say "Tigers Win, Tigers Win" very well.

He's in his 30's with children, but who knows, he just may watch them with his kids. Regardless, he was dead on with his comments regarding Hawthornes play by play calling.
