And my life has been just fine. I might have watched College Gameday for a few minutes here and there, but not enough to remember.

I don't watch the talk shows or Sportscenter. I flip past it. I don't care what they think.

I am happier.

You should try it. The only time I hear about ESPN saying this or that is when it gets reported on this board.

Why do we care what anyone thinks about LSU nationally? Just win.

Back this up to well before your date and I'm with you. Other than the ego bump fans seem to get from having some national talking head say good things about their program, there is virtually nothing to be gained from watching folks who have FAR LESS daily info than you do about your program talk about it. Hell...we already know many of them read boards like this one and use info garnered from here as their "unnamed sources." Why the hell would we then watch what any of them have to say, as if they know something we don't?

What it ought to do, though it clearly does not do that, is pull the curtain back on just how uninformed most of them are. After all, if they are this uninformed about our program why on earth would we think they know anything more about a rival's program? Honestly...nothing is gained by watching any of that.

I quit ESPN when they gave Caitlyn-Bruce Jenner the espy for courage. That broke their plate with me. And yes I'm okay and better off.

I agree with this post 100%. I sparingly watch GameDay and it's usually only on days when I know LSU will be on. Watched the segment last week with Miles and I watched the one from Lambeau. Other than that I don't watch ESPN. I only go to there website because one of fantasy leagues is hosted there. Life's much better.

You are a smart man. ESPN is to busy these days trying to force political beliefs onto everyone instead of just covering sports.

Watch very little and also keep the sound off for most of the games. Helps with my blood pressure.

Geez that is sad. Get over it; life is about overcoming hardships, not hiding from them.

ESPN would be fine if they didn't venture into politics. But they're about to have Obama come on the air (again) to tell us how racist we are

Not really a question of a hardship. At least in my case, it has nothing to do with avoiding opinions with which I disagree. It's recognizing that ESPN is essentially the male version of The View where largely uninformed media people sit around and say things designed to gain attention. You can practically hear producers in their headsets telling them to pick opposing sides so that fans of both sides get either outraged or happy and gather and audience and clicks. This isn't just a sports thing. You can see this same M.O. on Fox News and MSNBC where they say shite to cater to their base and piss off the other side. Ugh...pass.

Personally...I'm not interested in that. Your mileage may vary. I used to watch ESPN when it was actually sports news highlights and live games. Very little commentary by anchors, and if you wanted commentary you'd put in on Sports Reporters on Sunday morning and you'd know what you were getting. And the show was populated by adult, thinking reporters who's schtick wasn't to be inflammatory just to get attention. Now? It's almost entirely opinion pieces, human interest stories, amateur comedians trying to out funny each other while being snarky about highlights, and loud-mouthed bomb throwers yelling at each other, etc. To me, that got old by the end of the Dan Patrick/Keith Olberman run on Sportscenter.

What made ESPN and Sportscenter so good years ago was that it took the basic premise of local sports news which only got about 5 or so minutes each night at 10PM and expanded it so that you got to see highlights of a ton of things. The problem for them was the same as it was for MTV. Eventually they needed to fill 24 hours blocks with programming so they began filling it with stuff like you see now. There is clearly an audience for it, but try not to pretend that those who jumped off the train a while ago did so because their delicate little minds couldn't handle the new programming. It's that many of us simply think it sucks as compared to what brought us in as fans in the first place.

His and Her is a GREAT show, y'all just won't admit it. Where else can I get such profound year round NBA coverage.

I don't want year round NBA coverage. I don't want any NBA coverage honestly.

I've done the same. I don't care what the media says. I also don't watch Bama games anymore cuz it just makes me mad. If your mood changes based on something a tv person says then you're too invested.

I quit watching when they started covering T.O. doing push ups in his driveway.

I don't care, Don't find it entertaining, nor am I going to support the tabloid/reality t.v. mentality.

Turn on for football games and basketball games. Other than that, they are just trying to influence viewers opinions.

The only show I like on there is the SEC Network's 30 minute segment on the games the weekend before. It's cool because you get to listen to Coach O and players being mic'd up. All LSU highlites and coverage, no "analysts." I forget what it is called.

No, man it's the opposite. I'm making fun of all the people on this that try to turn every single thing about sports into politics. All of this Liberal/SJW bullcrap that gets thrown around is ridiculous. I don't follow politics (don't even vote for that matter)
