Now that JJ/Lee are gone everything is looking up. I am glad that chapter is closed. I have never seen a coach believe in a player more than Miles did in Jefferson. Miles favorite player of all time was JJ easily.

Hey Choctaw -

Has LSU lost in the past due to Miles' clock management?

Has LSU lost in the past due to hiring 2 defensive co-coordinators and Crowton?

Does Miles actively take charge in game preparation (the actual 'X' and 'O' play calling)?

What Miles does is recruit and hire. When he is called upon to make individual decisions in the game is when he is at his worst.

I still find it unexcusable that Miles was totally nonchalant for this game and totally lacked a solid, creative gameplan.

Your best employee makes the most egregious mistake he's ever made while major investors are onsite and it completely ruins a major deal you've been working on for a year. Do you just forget about it because he's been a great employee up until that point? And "mistake" is being generous.

He has lost very few games because of clock management. Most of the ones he gets called out for we still won.
He actually won in spite of Crowton and 2 defensive coordinators. We didn't have good qb that whole time thanks to RP. He fixed both situations.

I don't think you or i have any idea how Miles "actively takes charge in game prep"

He does recruit with the best, even finding players that others overlook and makes them stars.

yep. and he got rid of them. Saban hired Applewhite as an OC....whats your point?

how the hell do you know this? you're basically saying every time shite goes bad its Miles' fault...but every time it goes well its the other coaches and players. do you know how stupid that sounds? We just went 13-0 in the SEC and won another conference championship for Christs sake

Actually, Crowton and the 2 headed D nearly costs him his job.

Also, RP was on his watch. Same with Lee and JJ. The later were never developed properly.

here's a sorta outside opinion. though i'm a uga fan i'm from BR and i usually pull hard for LSU too.

LSU has had a DOMINANT decade. but prior to that it had been 40 years of mediocrity.

Mon was BRUTAL. It is justified to call Coach Miles into question for that offensive game plan and inability to adjust. Fan opinions usually aint worth squat, but in this case the criticism is justified.

LSU is looking good. But there are no guarantees for the future. You hate to see that kind of opportunity squandered.

Miles squandered one HELL of an opportunity on Monday night, wouldn't you say?

He deserves to get criticized.

Miles was not schooled Monday night.

Saban had the same plan Arkansas and Georgia had. it worked for all of them. But Bama is better than Arkansas and Georgia.

Miles had the same game plan he had against Arkansas and Georgia. Did I mention that Bama is better?

Saban did what Richt did. Richt is not genius. See the Georgia/Michigan St game.

Les's plan was that JJ would play better than he had played against Arkansas and Georgia. That was a bad plan, because Bama has a better defense.

Les wasn't schooled by Saban. Les was schooled by Arkansas, Georgia and Alabama. It is just that LSU's defense is so dominant, that they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat 2 out of 3 times.

I still like Les. I am glad he is LSU's coach. But he has needed a more dynamic offensive coordinator for a long time. Maybe 2012 will be the year.

I am confused by those that think it would be appropriate to fire Miles at this point. His body of work while at LSU speaks for itself. However, holding him accountable is a different story.
However, I am equally confused by those that think Miles is indispensable . Just like Saban was not indispensable.
LSU is bigger than any one person or coach and the minute it is not, that is when LSU becomes Penn State. A mediocre program with a coach that is not accountable for anything. I do not believe that would be healthy for LSU.

On the bright side, Mr. Jefferson is now a former player.

People are very hurt by what happened Monday (I'm still sick over it too).

Whatever opportunity was lost on Monday (chance to win a national title), that opportunity was there due to Miles in the 1st place. You do not win solely by getting good players on your team. Otherwise, Florida and Texas would be in the top 4 this year, and probably ahead of us. Oklahoma too.

Miles has led us to top 5 finishes in 5 of the past 7 years. We should be preseason #1, and have a roster full of players profoundly motivated to erase the sting of last monday.
