What did u think about Shula considering he took the bama job in may?

I think Shula was put in a terrible spot and I think he was way too young for that job but I think he took it at a time when nobody else would and he did it because he loves the University of Alabama. I don't think anyone could have won under the circumstances he faced at Alabama.

He does not get paid four mill to be a good daddy. That is great but most of us do that for free. He gets paid to win football games and represent the univ with pride and integrity which he does. He is 5-0 and they will not be getting rid of miles he has done more than enough to keep his job. The only way he loses his job is for Lsu to tank the rest of the season and I don't think Fla is good enough to take LSU and Auburn defense is struggling and Nevis is good enough to get pressure on Newton without blitzes

Well, if they take down all the scoreboards and just play and award "warm and fuzzy points", then I'll agree with you. Until then, I say he is killing us bit-by-bit. Here's a thought, "If you like him so much, then put Saban to the curb and you take him." I didn't think so.

No one here has ever questioned Miles' character. He's a good man for sure.

In your post, you say you aren't qualifIed to comment on his coaching. This is bull shite way of ignoring the poor coaching that has occurred. And, you clearlynhave commented on other things LSU that you weren't qualified on.

Fact is Les is paid $4M and that includes coaching last I checked. If he wins, then he will stay and all will be forgotten until he does. If he loses a few this year, he will lose his job for how he represented LSU on the field, not off it.

He played for Michigan for Bo who I feel certain is a hero to Miles in a lot of ways. The Michigan job came open and it was probably his dream job. However his team (your LSU Tigers) had a chance to win the NC and he stuck right by your side and probably lost the only shot he will have ever had at his dream job. He stuck by his team and led them to the NC and came home with the crystal and he did it for your team, your University, and you fans.

Thank you Scoop. We all needed to read your entire post (even if it might be just slightly self-serving to the Bama Nation). The part I hilited is a real tribute to a class guy. He may be goofy, but he's our goofy. And he's made LSU his home. Let's not make LSU his hell. That would be wrong, wrong, wrong. Remember what fans like us did to Cholly Mac. Let's not repeat that injustice on Coach Miles.

Winning can be great when your winning but it never lasts as we all know. But, having character, and having a positive impact on what a young man may or may not become has much more to do with how we are graded and in the box marked character beside Coach Miles' name you can put a check mark.

Shula had more character than Miles could ever think of having, yet you gumps ran him out of town and y'all actually have hate for Shula.

The character of most Bama fans is revealed because of how you treated and still treat Shula's time there.

Puh-lease don't come on here and talk to us about character. Bama is at the bottom of the barrel on that one.

Thanks. I would love to have a beer with you one day.

These people need to calm down and appreciate that LSU is undefeated.

I do agree that Miles character is sound. I also think that teaching young men that "good enough" is good enough is wrong, and I feel that is a message that Mile's conveys at times. He doesn't strive for perfection and doesn't seem to expect it from his players. That, in my opinion, is wrong of him. I understand that perfection is unattainable, but as long as you are striving for it you will always get the most out of yourself. I think a lot of people don't understand that about sports or life.

How can I question or even doubt the ability of a 5-0 coach? I am not going negative about an undefeated team. Where is the sense in that? I am just gonna continue to enjoy the ride.

Scoop you know we are the only team with the actual players to compete with Bama this year. If things go according to plan the showdown in November will be EPIC n BR.

I agree and I will be honest. I thing if Lee gets the ofense going, and I just mean decent not lights out, I think LSU can not just win but beat us convincingly. I do not think we are as good as everyone thinks we are. I think we beat a bad Florida team and just because it was Florida everyone thinks we are great. I do not think that is the case or at least they haven't proved that to me at this point.

Good post. I'd be shocked if there's a Tiger fan that thinks Miles is a bad guy. He might be one of the worst public speakers in a job that requires good public speaking, but he definitely seems like a genuinely good guy.

I've always wondered about what his exact motives were/what the real situation was with regard to the Michigan job, but I've got to give him the benefit of the doubt there too.

I am off the bandwagon as far as defending his ability to be an elite coach though. He has the power to sway me back, but I'm done now.

Mark Richt is a class guy, but I'm thinking the Dawg fans are in a somewhat similar boat as far as the thought process.

One question for you Scoop. Who would you rather have coaching Bama, Miles or Saban?

Have some of you people lost your minds? Feeling sorry for Miles and having some sort of "post-event misgivings" for being "unduly hard" on Miles should not be confused for accepting less than we deserve from a coach. I'll agree he may be a good guy but I'm still not so sure the Michigan job was his to turn down. At any rate, Miles is paid to win and not put the University in harm's way in the process. Looking at the trend over the last 2 years I'd say his first priority is not being fulfilled.

We agree that Miles is a man of good character. There are millions of men of good character, almost none of whom make $3.8 million per year. Don't feel too sorry for Les... he's set for life.
