We essentially had TWO playoff games before the national title game!
Georgia was ranked #4. We dominated them in the SEC championship game.

We beat Texas, Florida, Auburn, Texas A&M, Oklahoma. All but Auburn and of course Oklahoma won their bowl games.
The preseason top 4 teams were beaten by LSU by an average of 21 points!!!
Seven teams ranked in the top ten at the time the games were played!

Burrow sliced and diced comfortably five teams ranked in the top 20 in defense!

Not to mention the number 1 ranked defense in the national title game and defending undefeated for a second year in a row national champions!!

Colin Cowherd accurately stated that no team in the entire history of college football beat this many good teams this badly!

There is no "LSU is in the discussion of best teams."
There is no discussion! They are, hands down and it's not even close the greatest college football team that has ever taken the field and it's not even close.

Then I hear this bullshite about if not the greatest then the "most accomplished." What standard do you use to be considered the greatest if not that?!

I'm sorry folks. 2001 Miami and 1995 Nebraska didn't have this schedule and this many games and be this dominate over ranked teams.

This is not a 'discussion.' This is a fact. This is the greatest team of all time. This will NEVER happen again. What they pulled off would be considered a mathematical impossibility.

If you had gone to Las Vegas at the start of the year and told them this is what you think LSU would do in 2019 and 2020 in the title game they would have given you a million to one odds. Yes, you bet one dollar with a chance to win a million dollars. They would have considered that achievement a statistical impossibility.

So get your minds right, LSU fans. It won't ever get any better than this. You've seen the greatest college team of all time and you'll never see it this good by ANY college team ever again.

We know. We're all still in shock. It is the most surreal thing I've ever experienced.

There is a difference in “greatest team” and “greatest season”.

LSU has hands down the “greatest season”.

But arguments can be made that 1995 Nebraska or 2001 Miami could beat 2019 LSU in a game. That Miami team was LOADED with NFL pro bowlers,

Time will tell with LSU players on how great this team will be looked back upon. If these guys become stars in the NFL then that will bolster the argument for LSU’s stake as the “greatest team” of all time.

Bama was the national championship for me. Once we beat them, I knew no one was stopping us.

Yes, I remember a lot of pre-season posts asking if our fan base will be satisfied (and CEO keep his job) with a 10-win season. People were like "with this schedule we're looking at 9-3, tops". How's about 15 freaking wins while crushing every opponent. Could have hung ~50 on the top-rated scoring defense in the Natty had we chosen to. totally nuts

For speaking the truth?

1995 Nebraska played 4 teams ranked in the final Top 10 poll (not as many as LSU, but that’s a lot of quality teams) and best then over 10 points a game more than we beat our top 10 opponents. They could have scored 70 in the national championship game if they didn’t be nice the last two minutes of the game with the ball near the goal line.

2001 Miami is widely considered the most talente ls college football team of all time.

It will take a few years of our 2019 LSU players in the NFL to show if they are in the same talent range of 2001 Miami.

The talking heads didn’t fully appreciate LSU, even at the end.

Against Oklahoma “I’m picking LSU, but it’s going to be close”

Against Clemson, very few picked a big Clemson win margin but most had Clemson covering.

2001 Miami was loaded. Look at that roster and what became of those players

What a goofy way of starting a topic.

You could not be more wrong. We understand what happened. Who exactly are the people on this forum that you think need to be made aware how special this is?

The greatest season in history. Not necessarily the greatest team. Miami may take that.

Although I agree with the statement, I don't understand why anyone compares what players do in their professional careers to their college team's greatness.

They have nothing to do with each other.

If every player from this team turned out to be an NFL bust it would still have no effect on the dominance and accolades of this season.

It's best college team ever, not most successful pro-career group.
