link to story about Houston selection process. Les interviewed.

Why do I care about a millionaire's ego?

Lord have mercy.

Les was a different coach from 2005-2007. He seemed to have lost energy as time went on.

His ego is what got him fired.

He had a .770 win percentage at a school that did not have a line formed to replace him.

Yep he could have kept his job if he would've fired Cam last year. Instead he dug his own grave even deeper.

Lsu is paying him like a hundred and sixty Grand a month for the next 6 years. If I were him I would volunteer to be a coach at a high school or Junior High somewhere

Les Miles is stubborn head coach. Stubborness can be a very poor quality in a head coach.

Les mailed it in for the UH interview. Wasn't prepared and sort of expected Houston to give him the job based on his name and accomplishments.

Yes, I have to agree. I think there was this dance being played. Some fans always thought Miles a fortunate bumbler. Some thought he was a calculating genius playing the Columbo role and fooling everyone with his incoherent schtick.

IMHO it was always more the former. I always thought Les was mostly what you saw.

But I do think he thought it as he was the latter. He, I do think consciously at times, tried to play it off as he was playing everyone.

But I don't think he realized, at least in my view, that he was basically the same guy whether he was trying to play us or whether he was being himself.

I was amazed he managed the relative success he did for as long as he did. Had a tremendous run of good fortune...and I think it finally ran out. It was inevitable I think.

You have a good heart, worrying about Les.

He'll be just fine.

He is Forrest Gump personified.

Only the Big 10 would take a chance on Les.

His luck ran out quick, it exposed just how bad of a coach he was. Unreal recruited and human being, horrible at every other aspect of coaching.

He's made lots of money from donors and LSU fans at the same did not give a flying frick about those same donors and fans wishes and expectations.

Feeling sorry is not on the menu for me. If he had at least appeared to care or maybe even leveled with us, maybe. But we didn't earn/deserve even that.

Not being able to land a mid major job should tell LSU fans everything they need to know about Miles. He trampolined off of the LSU brand and had great success with incredible good fortune. Miles is a very average coach anywhere that doesn't give him the inherent advantages of a program like LSU.

LSU is paying him nearly 10 mil. According to reports all he has to do is "look" for another job to keep receiving the buyout. He's like the dude from Office Space right now. Couldn't care less.

I do think LSU did more for him than he could or would have gotten had he coached anywhere else.

Hell, if he would have stayed at Okie Lite and kept Clay (the guy he wanted to bring here with him) I wonder how long he would have lasted there. Similarly, I honestly think he would have lasted about as long at Michigan as the man who got the job in his stead back in 2007.

Of course that's pure speculation, we'll never know. But he really came into a good situation at the best possible time for him and had a run of good fortune that was unbelievable if you go back and chronicle it.
