I do have to admit, as much as I have defended the defense so far, they haven't performed to expectation. That being said, I still believe come the heart of SEC play they will pull it together.

Hard to judge against the teams we have played so far. When we play UGA we will know where we are I think. So far, I do think this is probably the worst D Chavis has had, but that is due to the inexperience more then anything. They have a much higher ceiling for improvement as the season goes along then any other team. I think he will get it fixed.

My concerns about the defense is that, thus far, teams have been able to string several drives a game on us. This used to not be the case with an LSU defense, and certainly we'd be shutting down teams of this caliber (cupcakes). We face some serious offenses in the games ahead.

How quickly people forget about the Towson game last year. Early cupcakes. The D turned out ok last year, didn't it? Relax. The tiger D will show up when it matters.

I think our D will get torched in SEC play. That being said, I haven't seen great defensive play from any SEC team thus far. If our O-line holds up, I believe we have the offensive fire power to play with anyone in the country.

That's been the case almost a decade now. Teams have been able to string drives, we've just been very good at forcing negative plays to stimy their progress before they can do serious damage. We've never been a 3 and out defense.

Sidenote, liked how Corey Thompson looked today. He's looked like shite earlier in the year, but he did a good job of recognizing runs/screens and getting to the running back. Interested to see him in coverage.

My point : bama gave up 500+ yards to bama , Ga defense sucks , auburns , ole piss, etc . However our offense is night and day compared to years prior even during 06 and we run much better schemes than we. Did in 06. If we had the same ole offense I would be extremely concerned . We will not get torched on d we just want be on the same level we were from 10-12

Boy I disagree with a bunch of you guys! I think we will raddle Aaron M, and get to him, while the secondary will have the correct peices in place by then! I think they get a few big plays but not enough! This D WILL play big for us in those big games watch!!!! I think we kick GAs butt, and bama won't see a Dline like ours all year!!! AJ will be under duress the whole game! I'm telling y'all this team is dangerous, ver much so! I can't wait to say I told you so!

I think we have a good D, but not a great D. Still getting a number of fails at LB each game. Unfortunately the young guys are punctuating their steller plays with a mix of total frickup plays that even I notice it was their falt. Upstairs not physical.

Of course I offense is much improved and that should help counter the points we will give up on D. I guess you can't have the best D every year.

At some point our offense is going to have an off game and it will cost us. I say that because of our rediculous schedule.

For example: Bama plays two tough SEC games all year. LSU and A&M. They are already through half of their tough games after beating A&M. So they have max 1 loss if we beat them.

LSU has to play regular season games Bama, A&M, Florida, SC and Georgia. We could very well be the best team in the nation and not survive our schedule and make it to the big game.

We need a great D, not good.

My only concern is the secondary, they're youth and inexperience shows, the D line is as good as or better than anyone's. Bama and A&M both gave up big yards over the past coupe weeks, yesterday's Bama/A&M game was all offense and no D so I really believe we are going to match up well with them. We will be tested vs Auburn next week, but I can see the D improving as the season moves along,no need to push the panic button,we'll be fine.
