How would this place react if either of these scenarios played out.

1. Our team lost four conference series, was swept in two of them, lost to Old Dominion twice in the midweek, Georgetown in a 1-0 shutout and VMI. Finished 15-15 in the league and was a Regional 3-seed. Would y'all be happy with that?

2. Our team loses midweek games to UNC-Greenboro, Longwood, College of Charleston and High Point, got swept a non-conference weekend against Charleston-Cincy-"Ole Miss" and another non-conference weekend against Georgia Tech and was a two seed in a road regional. Would y'all be happy with that?

3. How about if our team went 53-9 in the regular season, won 9 of 10 conference series before sweeping through the regional and super regional rounds before going 0-2 in Omaha. Would y'all be happy with that?

No. 1 is the 2015 UVA national champs.

No. 2 is the 106 Coastal Carolina national champs

No. 3 is the 2013 LSU team

I feel good about my assumption that this place wouldn't be too happy with any one of those results. The place goes up in flames after very loss in a 56 game season..

Those three scenarios tell you that the regular season isn't the end all be all. You can fly through it with ease and fall short in Omaha. You can grind through it with some serious bumps and turn it on at the right time. College baseball is totally unpredictable and really more of a game of chance.

Right now this team is not playing well. The bats are inconstant at best. The bullpen isn't five guys deep. Lange is hit or miss. But going crazy after every loss is just a tough way to follow a baseball team. Texas Tech, UNO, Florida Friday and Tulane were games that could have gone either way with one swing. Let's just take a deep breath and hope our guys start producing that swing.

Big series this weekend. Get 2 of three and we remain in a great spot.

The problem is a trend of not winning at the level LSU should be, with all the resources put into baseball.

Mainieri would be a good coach at Tennessee or Georgia, but he's not the caliber of coach we need here. To not be in a winner's bracket game in Omaha since 2009 is unacceptable. People are running out of patience at about the same rate we get thrown out at 2nd.

You are assuming the season ends in a championship.

That's comparing apples and rocks

The problem is, the losses are piling up.

RPI is an issue with these midweek games. People keep saying that if we win the SEC, that issue will take care of itself. My answer to that is if we're consistently losing to teams of "inferior" quality, what makes you think we'll win the SEC?

This is legitimate. My answer is that the five best pitchers (3 weekend arms, Gilbert and Newman) on the team didn't pitch tonight. The doesn't fix the fact that a wind-blown grand slam accounted for the majority of our offense, but those five guys are going to be heavily involved in our SEC weekends, obviously.

Sorry, Hunt.
Most 'Tards on this board trashing CPM and the Tigers see every game as a playoff game. Really.

No I get it. Long season, still plenty of time, its baseball, post season is most important, doesn't have to be pretty, etc.

Paul hasn't gotten it done when it matters since 09. It's that simple. So you can see my issue with this premise when CPM isn't know to have his teams rise up in the CWS.

I wouldn't be surprised if we finished in the top 3-4 of the conference. People are just extra on edge this year because it's been so long and we had so much come back.

5 of tulanes runs were wind aided. Terrible luck

Why has CPM chosen to load up on little guys? If we played true small ball, I could get on board with it, but we don't. I'm not talking about Lyle Mouton types, but a few more Deichmann types would be nice.

Deichmanns get drafted and go to the MLB in most cases, turtle thomas and smoke ran the program into the ground trying to do that. Big homerun hitting teams havent been a recipe for success in this era of baseball

I was there the whole time. We hit more balls hard than tulane, lots of line drives at people. Do think the lineup should be Adjusted to breakup the 3 freshmen in the lineup
