I'm going to list the following coaches and tell me what result you think the season would've been had we hired him instead of Miles:

Steve Spurrier

2005----Probably the same record because of Katrina.
2006----NC, I have no doubt we had more talent than UF.
2007----NC, but with only 1 loss somewhere in there.
2008----10-2
2009----10-2
2010----Possible NC year, but I think we were a year away on offense.
2011----NC

Petrino

*this one is hard to say because I feel he would've had immediate success, but his recruiting would've tapered.

2005----probably 3 losses because of Katrina and Bobby's attitude
2006----NC. With that offensive talent Petrino would've been in heaven.
2007----NC with Flynn. WHOA.
2008----3 losses
2009----3 losses
2010----2 losses
2011----1 loss to Bama.

I just wish in hindsight you'd gone to another college or support someone besides LSU. You are the most generally over the top negative poster here--and that's saying a lot. Congrats.

Interesting, but well thought out and would have to agree. I dont know, took me a while to get fully on the Miles wagon and then after the other night, I really dont know especially how he has handled this Lee situation. In sum, IMO, Miles is a good coach , however again IMO not a great coache. Could we do worse absolutely, could we do better, I dont know but possibly.

What in this post is negative. Is it because it says something other than, "GEAUX TIGERS WE WILL BE AWESOME NEXT YEAR DESPITE HAVING THE SAME COACH WITHT HE SAME OFFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY!!!!yeadhafldkhf111"

probably about 2 NCS and maybe 3.

Think about it. Was anybody better than us in 07?

Was UF or OSU better than out talent in 06?

In 2011, if we had a competent offense, was anybody better than us?

What is wrong with this thread to make you butthurt?

it's just a hypothetical. I am glad we have Miles because things could be a shitton worse. See UTenn.

Just b/c I post this hypothetical, which I find interesting, doesn't mean I want Miles gone or I hate LSU. Jesus you are absolutely wound up. RELAX

Nothing about butthurt.

You have zero perspective. You haven't moved on. What's so hard about just moving on?

You praised the guy all year.

Now he's the worst thing to happen to LSU, ever.

Move on. Jesus christ man. Grow up.

When have I ever said this?

Just because I think Miles wasn't our BEST option to hire back in 05, doesn't mean that I don't think he's been a good hire. SHeesh.

i praised him too, when it looked like we were taking it to teams to dominate them early on in the year

i thought our philosophy had turned the corner

well our team regressed back into "try to keep it close and hope for a big play on defense/special teams to save us"

we weren't being aggressive to go up and win

Why are you so butthurt that we can't discuss hypotheticals if someone else were hired?

Who was another candidate back in 05? I'm sure there were several that were worse than Miles.

Hell, I didn't even say one negative thing in this post and you are in attack mode. I can understand having your guard up given my past history, but this post is in no way negative to the current team or Miles.

Spurrier makes dumber game time decisions than Miles. Hell, he runs the clock about like Miles.

I doubt he would have done much better. I never got the Spurrier lovefest.

I can praise Miles and I still like how great a season we had, but I can also criticize the past game. I echo SFP's post.

I am just really intrigued and wondered what other people thought we could've done with Petrino.

I think we would have had better success early and eventually talent would decline because of Petrino's recruiting. But then again, winning is usually the best recruiting tool.

You've brought up every loss in his career and looking for every possible crack in the foundation to subtly bash the guy.

There is an extremely limited amount of coaches that could have compiled a 75-18 record, 3 SEC west titles, 2 SEC Championships, 2 championship game appearances, one national title, like miles have. You need to step back and realize that what he has accomplished in 7 years is pretty amazing. Sure, there are times we can second guess. 2 nights ago was one of them. But overall, miles has been great for lsu and will continue to be great. The grass isn't always greener. Ask Tennessee.

he's only the best coach in UF's history and USCe's history.

He also ran shite in the SEC similar to what Saban is doing now. he just had Bowden in his way, which is something Saban doesn't have to worry about.

SPurrier's offense with Louisiana's talent is fricking UNBELIEVEABLE.

I have no doubt that if we hired Spurrier back when he wanted to come here from Duke that we would've had UF's success in the 90s.
