Anyone ever swim at the HPL Field house on LSU's campus before it was closed?

2003 i think. if you look at google maps, it has water in it. its been closed for a while.

a group of lsu students are trying to get it moved up on the list of buildings to be renovated.

we are tailgating in front of it saturday before the game.

I actually learned how to swim in that pool when I was a kid during one of LSU's summer camps.

Those camps were as instrumental in me becoming as hardcore of an LSU fan as anything.

Come by the tailgate. if LSU and the State see how many people want to have it reopened, they might bump it up their list.

you can come inside the field house, see the pool, see old pics from when it was in use, and learn about how you can help get it restored.

not trying to get your money. signatures are appreciated!

That whole building needs to be restored. I have had a ton of classes in thier and the university is letting it go to waste. It looks like shite compared to the cox building next door.

yep. when I was in grad school in the early 80's, we lived in married student housing (Nicholson Drive). my wife used to take our two kids over there all the time. i went with them a few times.

I learned how to swim in that pool in the mid-80's.

Also the Olympics pool that's on Skip Bertman Drive...across from the Vet School.

we will have a "memory board" that people can write a memory they had in the HPL pool and post it on a board outside.

the idea is to show the community awareness of the pool and how lsu is doing us all a diservice by not fixing it up.

I lifeguarded there in 1999-2000. I didnt realize it was the HPL "Fieldhouse" though. Thought that was a different building. But I really liked that pool, it was ancient but huge and peaceful since it was not used much.

As in you'll be there from 3 until 5, or you'll get there somewhere in between 3 and 5?
