People also dont understand that the night games usually means less time the recruits spend with the coaches. The coaches are preparing their team to play not running around playing patty cake with parents. When the game ends and it is closer to midnight, they still arent running around playing patty cake with the parents. Earlier games means more time after the game to spend with the recruits. we play there every other year anyway. For the 2015 cycle, we can say your parents can come watch you in Austin in 2018.

What in the world are you talking about???

And you think a Texas recruit will be more inclined to sign with us because LSU will play UT in Austin in 2018???

Good god, man.

Coaches seem to think so. That's been cited as a reason for most home & home series agreements. And the reason A&M quit playing us back in the 90s (they were loosing too many Texas recruits).

A lot of kids went to the Wisconsin opener this year the turnout would have been bigger for the bowl game against Texas. Recruits from Texas who I would have not been surprised to see in attendance.

Eric Monroe
Deontay Anderson
Daylon Mack
Malik Jefferson
Kendell Sheffield
Ed Oliver
Hanner Shipley
Maea Tuehema
Derrick Tucker
Kendell Jones
Dee Anderson

LSU canceled the series

LINK

quote:

The series went into hibernation for 10 years, but re-emerged in annual home-and-home form in 1986, when then-freshman quarterback Tommy Hodson carried No. 18 LSU to a season-opening upset of the No. 7 Aggies in Tiger Stadium.
Once Hodson graduated after the 1989 season, the Tigers claimed only one of the next six games before LSU canceled the series after the 1995 season.

I'm not "fricking" with anybody am I? I am simply asserting a position in response to a question posted in this topic. And I fail to see your point.

It could matter to some Houston area recruits who would've attended the game. It's not a crazy idea

List them

I don't follow recruiting. I don't know. Someone else just posted a list so there you go. But why is it hard to think that Houston area recruits might like to see LSU whip Texas in person?

Please tell me how LSU playing in the Texas bowl against a 6-6 team gains them any exposure they are missing out on? Its just another reason for you to cry about something.

This. Even using that logic, we play in Texas about once a year already. Wouldn't you want exposure elsewhere?

I wanted to play Texas because my dad went there. We could have gone together and it would have been a blast.

I don't see how playing ND would help us nationally more than UT. You know UT is a huge national fan base, right? Probably no smaller than ND, at least not significantly.

We stomped ND less than a decade ago, I want to play Texas.

We do have a stronghold in Texas recruiting, we need to hold it. Strong is there now, they are looking to turn that program around, we can't afford to start losing recruits to them from Texas.

Thanks for taking the time to list them. That is exactly what I was referring to. There are about 5 prospects in the top 100 for 2016 from around the Houston area. I guarantee several of them will go to the Texas Bowl.

Yeah, I know the Manvel duo would be there for sure, they really like DBU. A lot of these guys went to the season opener including several Louisiana recruits. I don't think it's absurd, driving 3 hrs to see a school you're interested in, play live.

And us playing in the Texas Bowl would have helped this how?

Please enlighten me on the LSU coaches that you know and I beg that you provide a link proving your statement.

The more exposure the better.

So if you're a Texas HS football player who is skilled enough to play at the next level, and you see that Texas is playing LSU in a bowl game, you then think "LSU? hmm, I didnt know there was a college FB team in Louisiana." "Glad I saw this bowl game. I may play there."

Any posters here recruited by major college football programs? Can programs get recruits on the sidelines or actively recruit during the bowl period? If any and all recruits get a ticket to the game, can they get face-time with coaches and players?

If so, it is arguable the Texas Bowl is very sweet bowl for our LSU Tigers. In addition, LSU would garner exposure all over local media in Houston and throughout Texas.

I live in the Houston area AND LSU and the SEC get surprisingly little attention here IMO... Would enjoy hearing what other LSU alumni in Houston and throughout Texas think.

LSU can't host recruits at an off campus game, but that doesn't mean that LSU can't hook up recruits with tickets at face value so they can attend the game among the LSU patrons. Recruits could get the opportunity to sit amongst LSU fans and/or players' families. I can't see that being detrimental to LSU's cause. The value of doing this in Houston instead of Nashville is pretty extreme given the known targets of LSU's recruiting.

Like where in Nashville? So we can recruit singers for the A Cappella Choir? You people are totally clueless to the recruiting process if you think missing a chance to play in Houston again is no big deal over Nashville. Totally clueless.

I'm pretty sure they wanted to beat Texas moreso than playing in texas. Being that Texas is our main pipeline. Beating ND is better I'll, though.
