Booger and DJ Fluker stood next to each other. He made Booger look tiny. Although Dj is in playing shape you could tell the body size difference was substantial. Booger said he wore a size 13, Dj said 20! Now can you imagine Booger trying to get by the big SOB?

eh, Booger was 6'0" 300 lbs. when he played. the average DT in the NFL right now weighs about 305. You can't compare their sizes to an OL like Fluker

the starter was big. starter played in the NFL. Miles got to play when the starter was injured. Miles started two or three games. they won those games. team went 10-2 and went to the Rose bowl.

By the time Miles got on the field he was a senior. He started with both wrestling and playing football. Wasn't getting anywhere with the football and quit wrestling. We know he was able to get lower than the opponent.

I worked on a project with Dave Manders who was the center of the Dallas Cowboys '72 super bowl team. He is a Landscape Contractor in DFW now. He is not a big guy. Maybe 6' tall and 200 lbs.

If Miles wrestled seriously enough to make a college team like Michigan (even if he wasn't a star), that's a lot of the answer. Wrestlers have great core strength and understand leverage much better than "just" football players. That explains his love of the Big Cat drills.
It's a shame that wrestling is a vanishing sport

Different times bro. Same reason why the 1962 Green Bay Packers would lose 62-0 to the 2016 Tennessee Titans and wouldn't gain 50 yards of offense.

They'd probably lose to decent college teams. You could roll out LSU's current roster and probably beat the 72 dolphins easily

This guy was an All-American guard in '74. Played around 225#. Couldn't coach worth a chit at LSU.

LSU's 58 team only had about 10 guys over 200lbs.
with no one over 230. Billy was app. 208. Les, at 6'2 220, was a good size OL.

scientists dispute this

I can't remember the article I read this from but it was from respected researchers and they said that nutrition based growth is about maxed out in developed countries

Most of the article I have read do not indicate this.

People are getting bigger. I'm sure mostly from steroids

Nor do they indicate this. The increase in height (while this would also contribute for weight, that could easily be an indication of fitness rather than a general increase in the population) seems to be primarily linked to early childhood nutrition and really only started in the mid 19th century (not coincidentally, the industrial revolution).
