The college sports model is now a business. We are paying top dollar to see LSU win championships now.

As mentioned above, it is mostly economically driven. Fans expectations are set by the ever increasing salaries of the coaching staff and cost to participate. When you pay the most, you expect the best. Plain and simple.

This is the only thing that bothers me...

Most Tiger fans don't think it's a failure unless we win the NC, but we all want us to be in the mix for it, given our top notch talent and facilities.

I'm ok with a "down" season once in a while (it happens) but I'm only ok with it if we get the maximum performance and effort out of our team, and we didn't see that this year (except for the So. Carolina and Bama games). Unfortunately, it's happened more than it should under Miles.

What bothers me is that we have a coach that doesn't see anything wrong with the offense we are currently running - when it's quite obvious the offense needs to be seriously tweaked.

Why shoot for anything less? I'm not bothered by the losses to Bama or Florida, those were legit SEC games, what I am bothered by was Clemson. We clearly didn't want to be there and it showed.

..if you don't "win" - whatever that means - at "everything' , then you are a pathetic being that has no right to existence and should immediately do yourself in , as only "winners" should exist .... oh , wait , that means only one thing could exist .. I'm confused ... btw , did i win ?

Happens all the time in bowl games. Stupid, but it still happens.

Ask Florida how they feel about that.

Not bothered by it...it's how improvement and greatness is achieved. If one does not compete in order to win the top prize, then why get out of bed in the morning. BAMAS wins titles, why can't LSU be expected to win just as many? They have the same level of talented athletes, resources and facilitie BAMA, but cannot seem to equal the Accomplishments that BAMA has. If everyone is happy with 9-10 win seasons and leaving the titles to BAMA, then lets see if we can get the school to join a flag football league.

What Miles has done is great, but college football across the board is getting better and more competitive. He needs to adapt faster. Losses are going to happen but let those losses be because a 18 year old screws up on a play, Not because the 50-something year old 5 million dollar a year coach keeps shitting the bed when the chips are down.

You really wanna be like the Bama fans huh?

I guess our fanbase basically is like that, we basically have all the irrationality with an inferiority complex thrown in.

remember when it was bama that had delusional fans??

what about saban when he was here? did it happen more than it should when saban was here?
like UGA in 04? 31-0 to bama at home at night? getting blown out by AU. losing to UAB. people talk about miles being lucky in his wins. did miles have a play that was literally named a "miracle" in order to beat lowly kentucky?

did saban not get the maxiumum performance from his team here? was it on the players at all? is it just saban that has players that don't execute but miles players play in some kind of mistake free vaccuum?

Did you read this board from the time the matchup was announced. "Fans" on this board CLEARLY did not want anything to do with the game. Can the fans be run off or fired for not wanting to be there? Who should we demand gets fired for the fan apathy? Their wives? Their parents? I demand they be held accountable!

Can't you see losing isn't the issue, it is losing when you clearly could have won. There was no meltdown after we lost 31-13 against Ole Miss in 08. Besides peopel bitching about an SEC conspiracy, there was no meltdown after losing to Bama in 09. People always bitch the night of and the day after, that is to be expected. What bothers peopel so much about most of our losses is that they seem so preventable. Not in hindsight, but during the game.

The Miles supporters like to use this argument a lot. And it's valid to an extent. But the real issue is the present. One can argue Saban is a better coach than is was then....He's shown improvement, which Les has not. It's really, for me, not about Saban as much as it is that the road to Atlanta goes through Tuscaloosa at this point because of how well the BAMA program is CONSISTENTLY playing.

If being delusional means i demand excellence in order to one day get it, then call me delusional

you kind of lost me a little.

so you're happier with a game like florida in 08 51-21 than a loss like clemson this year?

for one, i do believe saban is a better coach now.

but there is a difference btwn wanting excellence from your team every year and demanding the coach be fired if he doesn't win a NC 3 out of 4 yrs.

i don't know any patriot fans, but i find it hard to believe that people (sane ones i mean) wanted belechick gone after losing the SB last yr.

The stated goals of the LSU football team itself each and every season are an SEC title and a national title. There is sign in the LSU training facilities which says as much. Why should my expectations be any different? Game are played to be won. Seasons are played for championships.

Go check Oregon fans. Kelley leaves and they are acting as if nothing happened. They look forward to a new season and new challenges.

Oregon is your example? When have they ever won the BCS? Ever??

Even when they have won the PAC-10, they went on to a 2-6 record in bowl games

because if they miss their goal the players and coaches come together and work harder or are at least supposed to.

they don't (when they're goals are not met) start barking for massive changes, want to play for a different program or different coach.

if you're in sales and you normally average 70k a year and your goal for yourself was 100k. are you looking into another profession if you make 95k one year? or do you recognize the fact that you did well but not as well as you wanted?

being realistic and reasonable does not equal "settling". but everyone here makes it seem so.
