68. First game was south endzone when LSU beat Tulane 62 - 0 behind Jerry Stovall in 1961. Many memories in the old upper south endzone over hanging the visitor section. Many trips down from Shreveport between 60iest through 80ies. The 9 and 1 team was damn good and Bert could sling it.

I'm 77. When I stood watch in the Navy, 1962, I would carry a transistor radio in my jumper pocket, with an ear speaker, to listen to the Tigers. I remember going on Submarine Patrol in August. Pat Sceens or Billy Ezell were expected to be our quarterback. While on patrol we received a teletype newspaper which gave the sports scores. I was surprised to see a guy named Nelson Stokely leading the Tigers.

I'm 71 and went to my first LSU game in 1958. I saw the Tigers play Hardin-Simmons, Kentucky and Florida. I was also at the Ole Miss game which was the first sell-out in Tiger Stadium history.

remember well the days of Cholly Mac, Bert Jones, Tyler Lefauci, Warren Capone, Tommy Casonova, and others of the late 60s, early 70s?

My Cub Scout Pack use to go to LSU games and we would escort people to their seat's. I think that was the 1971/1972 season. I was 7 or 8 but did not really follow LSU football back then. SO I don't recall which games we went to. I do recall one game there was barley anybody there. Another game was packed and it got very poud that game. So I don't really recall those 60's and early 70's teams.
But by the 1978 season I was starting to follow LSU a little. By then it had been may years since LSU beat bama. Talk was that the game had passed ole Cholly Mac up and he needed to go. 1979 season LSU barley lost to USC and bama and both were NC teams that season. USC was loaded with talent. Those were moral victories. Something fans accepted at that time.
When Bo Rein was hired we were very excited. He was a very good coach, young and smart. I truly believe had he not died LSU would have competed for NC's during the 80's.

Interesting that LSU beat Tulane 62-0 in 1958, 1961, and 1965

Count me in - I remember Gus Tinsley.

Gus Tinsley was one of my high school math teachers in the mid 70’s which is probably why I suck at math.

He used to let me drive his truck to Pinettas about twice a week to pick up his lunch and he would buy me a lasagna.

And I always was a fan of Andy Hamilton. Guy never dropped a ball.

+1. A.J. Duhe was another great defensive player. Back then defense was why they coined the phrase "defense wins championships." Not any more - apparently. I still think our defense is legit. Probably one of the few.....
