How Many Downs Would LSU Need To Score on the Goal Line Against ND?

Had this discussion with a buddy of mine last night after watching ND stuff USC on the goal line six times. Personally, with Hill or Ware in there with Copeland, I think LSU could score on the goal line against the Irish in two downs.

What say you?

Ware under center on 4th down and we lose 2 yards for the third time.

I say 2. While their definitely good, I don't think USC has the most offensive line prowess around. I doubt they get in the end zone in that situation against most of the top tier SEC defenses

Notre Dame would take the toss lead and shove it right up LSU's butt. LSU would lose yards on every play run from inside the two yard line vs Notre Dame. We struggled to punch the ball in vs Ole Miss and Arkansas.

I cannot understand why kiffin didn't pitch a toss to one of those quick backs they have. Notre dame crashed both safeties down at least 3 times an USC ran a toss play up the middle. Kiffin is not a good play caller at times.

Does it matter, so long as you score?

1st down - Toss dive for 0

2nd down - Toss dive for 0

3rd down - PA pass out the back of the endzone

4th down - Field Goal

Business as usual for the LSU offense

LSU is ranked 103 out of 124 teams in red zone TD percentage at 50%. On the flip side, the ND Irish is ranked 1st out of 124 teams in opponents red zone conversion at 24%.

LSU's predictable offense would have to settle for FG's. Obviously, you hadn't watched any LSU football games this year. We're terrible in the red zone.
