I personnaly believe this wont happen and Lee will be much improved but with Mett in the wings not sure how long Les wouldallow a 2008 repeat to go on before replacing with Mett.

It won't. We have a defense this time.

If LSU puts up the offensive numbers that we did in 2008, we are going to win the national championship.

Agreed we have a better defense but IF Lee were to fail would Les be loyal to him as he was to JJ?

If Lee puts up those numbers again? SEC Championship game. We had the offense, but not the defense.

The pick 6's were largely an anomaly. There is a reason it had never happened that many times before. It was an outlier.

While I feel comfortable saying Lee is not going to play like Dan Marino this year, it should be noted that 7 of Lee's 16 INT's from '08 came against 2 teams (GA & Bama)...both Top 5 teams.

Otherwise...he rarely threw more than 1 pick per game.

I'll take 200+ yards passing 2TD's and a pick every Saturday and feel pretty damn good about it.

Lee in 2008 only threw 2 more INT's then Matt Mauck did in 2003. I will surely take Lee behind center considering as stated before he threw 9 Int's against UF(2), UGA(3), Bama(4). Other then that his numbers were very good for a fresh QB.

Great point.

What people don't realize is we actually had pretty good offensive production that season (definitely better than 2010). It was only the pick 6s that were the issue.

Yes, definitely take those numbers and feel confidant in an improved Lee this year. We need a leader to step up at this time more than ever to get the focus back where it needs to be.

Lee is our quarterback this year. The whole year. Period.

I've got to think that the above fact helps him too btw.

No issues there! He is the leader I'm speaking of.

Fair enough, but that was three years ago. I for one am looking forward to seeing what he can do. Not a JJ hater - if CLM thought JJ should start, then I'm sorry he's not, but I've always appreciated Lee's potential.....

no doubt

if lee can step into his throws and up in the pocket, he'll succeed.

he tries to "arm it in there" too much.. at least in the past.

We were 32nd in the nation in total defense in 2008. Not great/what we are accustomed to but thats not the horrible terrible defense that the myth is portrayed as. When you go from #1 to #32 it seems like a much larger drop then it really is. JLs ints even the non pick 6s put the d in terrible situations and allowed the 50+ type scores to be hung on us.

Dont take this the wrong way. I fully support JL and I think we come out even with JJ or JL. I am looking forward to opening up some more intermediate and deep passes compared to what we have had the past 2 years. As a 5th year senior the turnovers should be better. However the fear about ints is legitimate.

True - I'm hoping Krags spent enough time with him over the summer! JL has the arm and the talent, I've always thought with the right coaching and development he'd have been much better by now......

Yes. He isn't the typical half-tard fan.
