How good would LSU have in the last 6 years if Tony Bennett had been offered?

Yep - current UVA head coach Tony Bennett who was led Virginia to a number one seed and was ACC coach of the year begged Joe Alleva for the job after the Brady exit. Alleva wantedt to take LSU in a direction and named Trent Johnson the head coach.

Another feather for Allev'as hat.

The better question is why wasn't Phil Jackson hired.

These stupid threads are so predictable. LSU loses at any sport, then the "how good would we be if ____ were the coach". I didn't see any of these when we were ahead by 10 in the first half last night. I didn't see any of these after we beat Kentucky on that icy Tuesday night. Threads like this show borderline mental retardation. DUh....ok...LSU loses....fire everybody! Derrrrr

Who in the frick knows how good LSU would have been under Tony Bennett....Larry Brown....Adolph Rupp...John Wooden...or Shaka Smart. But it shows an IQ level of 22 to be "that guy" who starts the "what if" thread the day after a loss.

We could have squeezed a couple years out of John Wooden. Thanks, Alleva.

The move from Washington State University clear across the country is a bit of a surprise to fans and players alike, and specifically because it is to the University of Virginia. Virginia hasn't had a good couple of years, and finished last season with a record of 10-18. It was thought that Tony Bennett would stick around at WSU, after turning down suitors that included LSU, Marquette, and Indiana just to name a few.

Imagine if we'd hired Belichick in '04 when Saban left. How good would we have been the last 9 years?

I'll have to look for a link and granted this is a hypothetical scene - that said - you would think an AD from a basketball conference would be able to find a coach who can teach fundamentally sound basketball to this team. LSU does not have that at this time and I don't care what recruit he has coming in next year.

You guys throwing out the insults were not appalled by what you saw in the second half last night?

Shut up, jackass. You weren't thrilled with what you saw in the first half? We played exceptionally well in the first half. You can't have it both ways. The other team plays hard and tries to win too.

So yeah, the second half sucked. So that means you fire the coach? Tell us about some of these "fundamentals" that we don't have? That is the standard message board cliche'...."we don't coach fundamentals". What does that mean?

SMU played lights out. LSU never stopped trying. You could tell they were exhausted but they played hard and tried. So, no I wasn't appalled at all.

Not saying this at all. Just looking at the big picture. You can be very well coached and lose a game. LSU took themselves out of a very close game.

I emailed Joe Alleva before Johnny Jones was hired asking him to please take a look at Baylor's Scott Drew. I am not saying we could have gotten him away from Baylor, However i am not sure that he was even given an offer, and of course my email was never returned and probably not even read.
