Sully has a done a great job of coaching those pitchers up and helping them improve their draft status. Basically just has to convince the kid he has a shot to possibly double if not triple his money by going to Florida

Also we need to develop our big time prospects. Weve gotten big recruits like MCcay, Godfrey, Bush and Peterson and nkt really developed them so far.

The majority of pitchers we recruited got drafted. How does Florida avoid that?

It's a pretty simple answer. Obviously, o'sullivan puts priority on dominant pitching above all else, which is smart, especially in this age of college baseball. Secondly, he and his coaching staff are probably really great at scouting prospects and can evaluate and recognize pitching talent very effectively and early on in a players game coming out of hs, and not just their present talent, but the potential talent they possess. Lastly, he develops the talent he signs out of high school extremely well once they get on campus at florida and get involved in their baseball program. After a while, top notch pitchers just want to go there because they see the first round draft picks coming out of their program over the years. He just has and continues to place an overall emphasis on the pitching staff at florida. Its kinda like the "if they can't score, we can't lose" mentality.

yeah, I can't believe todd peterson looks as raw as he does. Obviously he has plenty of time to come around, but he was really highly touted

It really amazed me at the amount of pitchers we threw out there in our first game against oregon state, the one we lost 13-1. None of the pitchers could barely even throw fricking strikes, and when they did, they grooved them and got tagged. I was thinking how the hell did these frickin rag-arms even get a college scholarship in division 1, much less at a school with the reputation LSU has? ManierI better go out and recruit some top notch pitchers or we won't have shite behind walker, gilbert and hess. Our pitching stff sucks once you go about 6 deep. They're just really bad, and you need a deep bullpen that can at least be relied upon to throw damn strikes when you need them to in order to win a championship. He better go sign some studs or it will be more of the same im sorry to say.

UF is just an overall better baseball program in both talent and coaching. (Of course all the SPL's don't want to hear that)

Watch, USCe is going to go after O'Sullivan.

a couple years ago, i thought it was inevitable that they'd win a national championship. sucks that LSU was on the wrong end...

Florida's biggest flaw is fan support.

We've signed studs, plenty of studs. It's that they aren't developed. Lange' first year was his best year by far, he got progressively worse after that. Why do you think that is?

And the fact that he does it with poor facilities and about zero support for the baseball program

The bigger question is how does Florida sign these top prospects and get them on campus? Singer was a 2nd round pick out of high school. A few years ago they had a kid picked top 10 and he went to Florida instead. Lsu signs just as many top flight guys but they get drafted and go pro. That's the difference

There's probably a lot of luck to it.

I suspect that the guys who turn down the 2nd round money mostly have one thing in common.

Upper Middle Class or better.

I saw that with my peers when I was playing HS. The kids who were middle class or lower who got drafted went pro on almost any offer at all.

The others took a "pay me serious cash or I'll wait" approach.
