Isn't the "goal" for a team as talented as LSU always to win a NC?

So your mind set during preparation and play has nothing to do with performance?

I'm going to just assume you've never actually played sports.

Yep.. Envisioning winning was a huge piece of Skip Bertman's process, and many players have admitted so.

JJ and Ryan Baker specifically, have both been very blatant about this years goals. Neither have showed too much humility. I just feel like it's a bit different than the way LSU teams have acted in the past. I'd say their first goal should be a friggin' SEC championship or how about even a western division title? I do think it is just a sign of the times, and i think it's great that we are fortunate to set such lofty goals. I was just wondering what everyone else thought?

When you spend to much time talking about THE championship you tend to lose focus on small things. I would rather the players talk about how ready they are, how hard they worked in the off season and let actions in games down the road speak for themselves. It is a process. To much "SWAGGER" usually ends in a large FAIL because of false confidence. Let the game and score reflect how good the team is. Just win and take care of business.

I love how people are discussing this like they know and understand the mindset of the team and will be in the locker rooms for each game this year.

It's been the same thing the last five years.

Agreed. It's one thing to set your goals high and work towards it as a team. It's another to run your mouth just because you can't keep it shut.

Id rather think and talk like saban and focus on the process rather than the result.

So how did that work out for Bama last year. I don't have a problem with the "take things one game at a time" or "Our number one goal is the Ship." Those are just words for control or motivation, its how you go about your work. Different teams need different influences or motivation. Some teams have too much confidence and need to played down, while others lack the confidence and need the "sunshine pumping," whatever works.

Yes, because clearly that is the only thing I have heard them talk about this whole summer.

I guess that wasn't JJ and Ryan I heard talking about that...hmmm must have been another team

This is really what SEC Media days should be all about. All the players and coaches show and and they all say, "We have no comment at this time, The Season will speak for it's self. We have no goals, you don't really want to hear about what we have worked on this off season. Have a great day!"

You know come to think of it I can't even think of one team that one a MNC that believed it was the best team, they are always Debbie Downers with two handfulls of humble pie.

No.... I love it. I got a chance to go to summer practice before the 2003 season, and Micheal Clayton was screaming it when other players were getting tired.

Yes, typing on a phone sucks. It also allows you to avoid answering the question. I failed because I didn't proofread my post but you failed because you didn't even respond to the actual message of the post. You also fail at life. Oh and how is MNC incorrect?

I love our players talking about championships.

That means they believe they're good enough and they've set it as a goal.

Geaux Tigers!

Because it's not a MNC anymore. BCS is what every team agrees to before the season is THE National Championship.

Ah. Guess, I was out of the loop when it was decided it wasn't PC to call it MNC. I thought it also had to do with the fact that college football doesn't have a playoff. But if it has already been decided I will go with the majority vote.

To be there you have to see your self there. The best life coaches in the world teach this. Illuminate a path to the future then follow it. They have the talent to do it. I just think the schedule stands in their way its a goddam brutal schedule, way too difficult to esape without 2 losses minimum

One game at a time. This team has not accomplished jack shite yet. All the preseason hype goes right out the door in Game One. Oregon, WV and the SEC teams are not rolling over for LSU. We better be ready or the cockiness will get shoved right back in our face.

nc or bcs nc.

mnc was invented by ranterds to give usc the ap.
mnc is used by teams that have suckey sos.
mnc is used by loosers that don't play in strong conferences.
mnc is used by looser ranturds.

there is nothing mythical about the bcs.
what the guy said, if you don't want to play for the bcs nc, move on outta here.

the mnc was given to n.d. and big 10 schools who never had to play for any kind of n.c. except those given out by sportswriters (men who have never sweated on the playing field.)

I'm excited about the season. If these two players, JJ particularly, are that confident, great. They get a chance to show us on September 3rd. Hope I'm home and in front of the television instead of scrambling to get back from Fort Dix.
