On the auburn rd pass when Johnson was across the line, TWO offensive linemen where downfield.
SEC officiating rears it's head once again

Pretty bad. Ole Miss play was worse and they missed that as well.

But, you stat whores need to chill out. It's about wins and loses, period...and BUGA raking up rushing yards.

That will be a huge discussion on the officiating conf call today. Refs blew it big time and on 2 different stages......thats a systemic issue.

the part he talking about was not and can not be reviewed. They reviewed whether JJ was across the LOS; post is about lineman too far up field.

It's not a matter of the QB crossing the line of scrimmage, Steve. What makes the play illegal is the offensive lineman selling the run by going 5 yards down the field. Auburn should've been flagged and Ole Miss should've as well.

Can't review lineman down field. If you could, every team running the spread would be in trouble.

Honestly, I think the missed Auburn call was worse because of the mechanics. The linesmen shifted two yards downfield, which is why he missed the call on the QB being too far downfield. He was no longer at the line of scrimmage. But also, the refs had the yard markers to help them out. The LOS was the 9 yard line, and the Auburn player was on the other side of the 5. It doesn't take the keenest eye to realize he's more than 3 yards downfield. You have a huge visual reminder. The OM LOS was the 32, so a ref couldn't have the 30-yard line as a visual cue to three yards downfield.

When this is addressed and fixed on the field, in a game, it will be called against the LSU Tigers.

It is happening all the time, they are going to review this before next season. More emphasis will be put on lineman down field.

The QB was legal, his foot was still behind the LOS.

Now the ineligible linemen down field is another story.

You are correct, probable why he missed the ineligible linemen.

It was too close to reverse the call. The call was that he WAS over the line. Why did they change the call especially when they knew they screwed up the lineman being downfield. Should have stuck with the penalty.
