With that being said, he was missing wide open receivers all night that we've all seen him hit routinely.

a good defensive scheme can do that to you

Fore, I was at the game and he had 5-6 seconds to throw a lot yesterday and was awful at putting the ball in the right spot

Their WR's had our CB's beat several times but Johnny was overthrowing them. Defense played great, but got lucky on a few unforced bad throws from mr heisman

Bamas D not as good as ours. Fact. Manziel was sick. Sick of seeing DEs on the side of him pinhcing him to move his little frame forward. Robinson played aggressive on Evans who is accustom to pushing dbs off for open passes = A cry a baby. Few extended plays to find an open receiver and quite frankly not a lot of open receivers = Manziel sick and just not himself = N/Heisman. Mett better than Maziel and Mccarron Media darlings got drilled against TIGERS!!

that pretty much happens to most every team, every game. He had an off day, no, doubt, but many times that is because you're frustrated or because of the scheme you're looking at. On at least one of the overthrows, White was right behind the receiver and directly in between him and JF. To the QB the man basically looks covered and your only hope for a completion is to throw it deeper and hope the receiver can catch up to it.

Is it possible that LSUs D was phenomenal last night AND Johnny had an off night? Or does it have to be one or the other?

Or just maybe LSU's D was phenomenal last night RESULTING in Johnny's off night. Gotta love the 'tards that just can't give LSU (or more specifically Miles) any credit.

He did, but we still have to credit the defense for harassing him and making him uncomfortable all day.

Chavis earned his $ yesterday

Or it was a bit of both.

Anyone that has watched him play this year knows he made some terrible unforced throws downfield that hit normally hits.

These were throws that he had a clean pocket and a receiver that had sling shotted himself away from the Lsu db

I think the weather may have affected him but not how most think. I think it may have hindered him standing on the sideline getting cold for so long while LSU ate up clock, then he'd have to come in cold and chunk the ball. It may have kept him out of rhythm. Also, judging by his bewilderment after a few overthrows towards the sideline, the crowned field may have affected him. But it all comes down to a great gameplan by LSU.

I think the weather affected him, and LSU played their best game by far on Defense. They also did not try to attack the middle enough.

The weather really wasn't bad at all. I never got wet sitting in the stands. Field looked to be in great shape. I didn't see any footing issues, except when aTm WRs were pushing off.

The getting cold theory is interesting. Would further show how impressive our gameplan/domination of TOP was.

It's a match up issue. Chavis recruits guys who are smaller and quicker which is what you need against spread offenses. Against power run teams, that personnel will struggle.

Bama's D wasn't as good as LSU's against A&M

I would hope that's what he was saying.

I agree that the weather affected Manziel. He didn't seem to be right. Of course, the LSU defense had a lot to do with his discomfort. My son attended his first LSU game and had a blast except for the cold and wet. Worth the drive from Houston.

Chavis broke many of his normal Tampa 2 tendencies yesterday which was a big positive. The change caused confusion upfront as well in Manziel's head. You tell Manziel wasn't sure what he was seeing at times & that resulted in him holding on to the ball or taking off running.

I tip my hat to Chavis & the players. I've criticized Chavis for being too simple & relying too much on the Tampa 2 & off man & zone but he changed that up yesterday. At one point in the 1st quarter, Chavis had Tre White lined up as an outside linebacker on a 3rd & long.

The players also executed the game plan to perfection. Major props to Robinson for stepping up & playing very physical against a very physical receiver.

Moving forward, I really hope Chavis keeps up the creativity & versatility. One reason being that once the talent level on defense goes back up, there will be the opportunity to have a dominating, smothering defense, not just bend don't break. Secondly, it's to the benefit of both Chavis & players to be creative because it cuts the players loose & let's them make plays. In the Tampa 2 there's just too much thinking involved which doesn't allow the athletes on defense to fly around.

lolwut? He was placing nice balls all day. If anything WRs had a severe case of the drops.

not sure what game you watched. He over threw about 5 passes that were within the field of play. Then he over threw another 3-4 that went out of bounds and didnt even give his WRs a chance.

And yes, his WRs dropped 3 balls.

Manziel was horribly inaccurate yesterday. LSU's pressure was not very good. Their coverage was really good at times.
