This is also a very shitty excuse. I don't recall a single instance it directly benefitted LSU, but I can for aTm. Their only TD came on a busted coverage when Tre White slipped and fell. So if anything, the rain helped give Manziel his one and only TD against LSU in two games.

This. And Manziel isn't the most accurate QB in the world. The d-line did a great job of boxing him in, created more distress by getting their hands up and playing the passing lane, and Rashard took Evans out of the game.

It was just an all-around perfect game from the defense. The only time Manziel broke contain was when the great QB spy that is D.J. Welter overran his assignment

It's about match ups. LSU's D matches up better against TAMU than Bama.

I'm convinced JFF was significantly injured last night.
He's had some big games when he's been hurt. His receivers missed several easy ones, inexplicably. The scheme was clearly a big part of JFF's bad night. He wasn't allowed to run around in the backfield for long periods of time like he's used to doing.

Chavis has always had success against spread offenses.

too logical for this board, dumb it down some. Use phrases like "shite the bed" and talk about "pet players".

Bama's D always seems to avoid having to play dynamic offenses. Bama struggled with aTm and avoided UGA who was dangerous when healthy. Nor did they ever have to play Oregon or Okie last few years. I don't know if 270lb LBs are a good match for uptempo offenses or mobile QBs.

The only possible explanation to your thread must be that Chavis is greater than Saban and Smart because he held Texas A&M to less yards.

Question: Is it possible that LSUs D was phenomenal last night AND Johnny had an off night? Or does it have to be one or the other?

I think having Odell play scout team QB can't be overstated. The LSU defense looked like they knew exactly what to do when JFF started scrambling. They never rushed recklessly and when JFF would try to get out the pocket someone was always there to force him back to the middle. A well prepared defense that knew exactly what was coming and how to stop it.

Sure.. why not.

When someone is trying to say that Chavis did better than Saban/Smart, you come along to make an argument /excuse for Chavis success. That's why your excuse has no merit.

After a couple of weeks of criticism, Chavis and defense did better than expected. Let them bask in their glory.

Be gone you excuse maker.

Maybe our D forced him into playing poorly. Why is it tough to believe this? They did the same thing last year.

Manziel hurt his throwing hand thumb 2 weeks ago and I'm not sure he recovered 100% from it.

LSU did the best job of defending him for sure out of any team that's played him the last two years.

With that being said, he was missing wide open receivers all night that we've all seen him hit routinely. His receiver also dropped a few passes that should have been caught.

Point is, something was definitely "off" with him. He was 39% throwing last night.

When Les offered to help gameplan for A&M Chavis said "No thanks coach, I've got this one."

Bringing extra guys on the rush helped a ton.

Also Chavis played the first half well against Bama, but we never took advantage. If we go up a few scores early in that game, Bama becomes a lot more one dimensional.
