How can LSU be #5 in ESPN poll but no. 16 in the AP poll?

I almost wonder if Yahoo's reporting of the AP poll was correct - Baylor over LSU?

Obviously sports "journalists" know WAY more about football than coaches. Plus, their 2016 preseason poll is not out yet.

they probably do, most coaches probably know more about the next two weeks opponents, but don't research the rest of the field the way writers do, and most coaches, if they will admit it, don't even do the actual voting

It apparently is last year's but Yahoo didn't put any date context on it at all (it was on the right margin of the page). And, if it is last year's, why have it up at all?

This. Ignore all polls. They are meaningless. Polls don't decide who goes to Atlanta and the committee decides who makes the playoffs.
Polls are irrelevant. Ignore them.
