In '07, it was probably 53 to 47 percent in LSU's favor, but people saying it was much more than that were either not at the game or simply delusional.
No. Just no. I was at both games. First, OU did not outnumber LSU. Second, how can anyone with a straight face claim 53-47? That's like saying we have a 86.85% chance of beating Alabama. You sound ridiculous.

I believe the advantage will be significant for several reasons, most already mentioned.
1. It's an easier trip for both the team and the LSU fans.
2. While both teams have both size and speed, LSU has the speed advantage, which will be aided by the fast field in the Dome. The only bowl game that Miles has lost was against Penn State a few years ago, and few would argue that he would not have won that game as well if it had been played on a decent field and not that crap they played in. Power and size excel on grass; speed is better on turf.
3. I've said this jokingly, but I believe there is some truth to it. LSU's fans are louder under normal circumstances, but more so in the dome. May sound crazy, but I think there is a New Orleans factor that affects the opposing team's fans. For them, it isn't just a game, it's a trip to N.O., which means partying in the Quarter, and many of them aren't used to that level of partying. I think there will be a larger percentage of Bama fans nursing bad hangovers, which isn't conducive to yelling!

bullshite about the cost. It will be cheaper for bama fans in south alabama than lsu fans in north la. Also you dont think there are nama fans in louisiana? There are also lsu fans in alabama. The biggest diff i see is that it wont be a home advantage for bama. We had 8,00 tickets, plus the home calls. This is going to be neutral and LSU is going to come out on top again.
RR wrote an article about the oline and their improvement since nov 5. One of the biggest things the players talked about was how loud it was and they were just more worried about not making mistakes.
Really yall are thinking way too much into this. Easier trip for the team? Doesnt matter when ur there a week before the game and its in driving distance. I see no advantage for any team. While there was a huge advantage for bama in BDS. Im strictly talking fan aspect. Obviously playing on turf is advantage for lsu on defense.

I was at the 03 game too and I agree, it was 50/50. I remember thinking while surveying the Dome that you could see a definite line where maroon went to purple and gold and it was dang close to 50/50. I don't think OU outnumbered LSU fans.

True they are alsp 16-1 or 17-1 in domes in my lifetime. Id have to check on some tulane games when i was younger, but they def didnt play in any dome bowl games the firs 10 years of my life.

I was surprised at the # of Ok fans in 2003 as well as the OHSt fans in 2007.
Al fans are going to show up in droves and it will not be a huge home game advantage.

I think the home field advantage that LSU has in the Superdome is more mental than anything. Our players feel at home there and Bama players know that and will be somewhat intimidated having to play LSU in what has become the heart and soul of Louisiana in the last 5 or so years.

To me the thing is more psychological, for LSU the Dome/NO feels like Home-----for Bama it’s a road game.

It's the gold trim in the stadium. It's like uga playing in the Georgia dome, with all the red. Other than that, it's always 50/50 on the button, right? The people who went to the SECCG were just imagining more uga fans.
There will be tons of bama fans driving in that morning, hanging around champions square, and then driving home that evening. There will be no LSU fans doing that. It's such a hard trip for people from LA to drive all the way into that big city without a hotel room and tickets in hand.

The bigger question is why would it matter. Alabama couldn't beat us at their place with 99% of crowd in their favor.
We're suddenly supposed to lose with "only" 60%-70% of the crowd in a place Miles has never lost in before? Really?

LSU has won 9 straight in the dome, and "all those bama fans" failed Nick Saban the last time, bama played there. At least he blamed the loss on bama fans, but it is never his fault when they lose.
