How will the hot temps. affect Appy. Stinks?

Do you think the 90+ degree temp. is worth a touchdown or two for LSU or do you think App. St. is conditioned and prepared for it? I see many App. St. players cramping by the 4th qtr. and maybe a few of LSU players cramping. Any thoughts?

between the heat, humidity, and lack of depth, its gonna be a long day for the appy folks

ASU players are very well conditioned, but depth is going to hurt them in the second half. Also, in the second half the weight difference in lineman will take effect. That firecracker 6'1" 255 lb. guard is going to be sucking wind from trying to push our rotation of DTs.

it's gonna affect Edwards, when you run like that, in that humidity, he'll be tongue wagging soon.

for the 50 katrillionth time, heat wont be that big a deal!

I agree. I don't expect to see the App side cramping up - and I don't believe the Tigers will be either.

depth my friend, depth. No matter how well you condition, this heat will get to anyone. Being able to go three deep in most positions will be the undoing of your beloved hillbillies . . . . . .

From what your educated weather persons are predicting I'd say that the heat may not be as bad as you are claiming.
Aug 30 Weather
I'd say that the Mountaineers will have plenty of time to get a feel for what they will be playing in that day. Since it is a 4 o'clock start time then the heat will be decreasing toward the 80's before the first quarter ends.
As far as humidity, the elevation difference should help them. High humidity decreases oxygen levels and they play and train more than 3,000 feet above sea level. And don't give me bullshite that that won't matter. I know it does! I trained here in Boone before I went to boot camp in Orlando and it helped a lot.

You may be right but the tempature will not be dropping that much at 4pm. I don't know what the forcast is but if it is 90 at game time at 4pm it will still be 90 or whatever at 7pm.

I think its pretty hot in Boone in the summer...

I don't know how many of you have gone through 2-a-days, and summer conditioning, but it's very difficult, and players throwing up is considered normal.
With that said, there is nothing that can prepare you for game fatigue, except game fatigue. Even the most healthy players cramp up if they expend too much energy.
That's where LSU has a decided advantage. They are 3 deep across the defensive front, and that will ultimately be the Appy's undoing.

I remember this same thread in O4 about Oregon State. LSU was lucky to get out of that game with a W! LSU players were cramping up as bad as OSU.
It is gonna be tough on both sides of the ball. Maybe even dangerous.
LSU/SEC ain't got a hair on their balls for allowing ESPN to dictate a day game in the August Louisiana heat.

The weather won't be a big factor. Our lines and team speed and athleticism, however will. In a BIG way. 52-10

Not that I think LSU wont out class the Aps. The heat will be a factor for both sides. Depth will be the big difference. Our first string is better than theirs. Our second and third strings are world class apart.

Yes, depth will be huge. We will rotate a lot on defense and wear them completely out on both sides of the ball. I could see us mounting 350 plus yards on the ground, easily.

Just as long as you guys don't think the heat will LSU this HUGE advantage...as I've said before...no one is "immune" to the heat and yes, you may be able to tolerate it a little more, but it won't make a huge difference of one team over the other.
I think it will affect ASU more than LSU, but by a miniscule amount

Charles Scott, 98 yds. rushing 2 TD
Keiland Williams, 56 yds rushing 1 TD
Richard Murphy, 110 yds. rushing
Trindon Holliday, 90 yds. kickoff return for TD

Just some thoughts:
It was near 90 and humid in Michigan last year - yes, it is hot there too in the summer.
Armanti Edwards is from the low lands of South Carolina. It is hotter there than it is Baton Rouge. Columbia, SC is usually listed as one of the hottest spots in the country during the summer. And, it's just as humid.
It doesn't get very hot in Boone in the summer. At 3,333 feet, once it hits about 85, it starts to storm. That said, the indoor facility is recognized as being as good as any in the country and I bet they have climate control in there too.
All that said - depth is the issue. First team to first team LSU has the edge and probably by more than just a little. Second team to second team it starts to get out of hand.
BUT....if this game is competitive and makes it to the 4th quarter, it becomes a toss up. EVERYONE will be tired. EVERYONE will have lost a step and maybe, just maybe, we get the ball, down by less than a field goal, with about two minutes to go.
Does it happen? Probably not. But, if it does, the Michigan game will still be the biggest upset because they were ranked higher!!!
