Honestly didn't know Jennings was that fast. The new O suits him well.

I was very happy for him tbh. His run production seemed to give him confidence and he looked much better passing the ball also.

Some of his runs I was pleasantly surprised by his quickness and speed. Nice job AJ,

Great bloacking and scheme makes him look that way. Harris probably houses one.

Keep in mind, Jennings had a mediocre game against a poor defense. On the surface he played okay, but he still made the wrong calls on at least a third of the read option plays unless they are telling him to look at something different that all other coaches tell their qbs. Like it's been said several times, if he keeps taking those hits, he won't be the quarterback for long.

It was only a new O for the first half.

As we have seen so many times, Miles let the air out of the ball in the second half and decided to let the defense win the game for him......and this dumb-arse strategy nearly back-fired on him.

He's not that fast. His running reminds me of Matt Flynn

Wait, you mean an athletic QB benefits from a spread system that allows said QB to actually use his athletic ability. Surely this is a novel idea.

Did he have a single give on the read option? It didn't look like he ever made much of a read they were all basically keepers.

I don't agree. He averaged a team-high 8.5 ypc and had 119 yards rushing (the 4th highest ever for an LSU QB). He made very few incorrect reads (you can tell that just based on his average).

No matter how crappy aTm's D is, they didn't allow 100 yards to Dak Prescott, Nick Marshall or Bo Wallace and all those guys averaged just over 3 ypc on as many or more carries than Jennings had.

Jennings is not super fast, but his fakes were very good last night and he wasn't indecisive. He ran hard. Also, aTm wasn't expecting the read option that much and that's partly why it probably paid off to the extent that it did. Jennings did a very good job with that.

true. To bad they (Miles/Cam) shut him down from passing in the second half.

Jennings is fairly sharp on when to run. Pocket awareness could make him a bigger threat to scramble, too. He's been solid, but not spectacular in designed runs before the aTm game - that was kind of his coming out party as a true runner.

I really don't know if they were options at all. They may have been pseudo options designed for him to keep it every time. He said in interviews that there were a lot of designed runs, so I assume he was talking about the "options".

Yeah - but on at least one of those, he should have given the ball up. That's the "option" - not a run-pass option.

However, I think his reads were mostly correct. He was inconsistent selling the fakes, sometimes good, sometimes not.

I like the jet sweep, too.

He definately surprised me as well with his speed. Almost got himself a nice stiffarm to the ground on somebody. kinda both went down i guess. But he was definately running with a purpose. Maybe somehow being an actual dual threat can somehow help his throwing accuracy. That play alone can mix up everything enough to wear a pass play wont completely screw the offense's head up. If that makes sense to anyone

He's not fast at all. Probably 4.7 speed

Look people I hope Harris "gets it" and becomes the starter in 15 simply because he has more ability and potential than AJ...faster, stronger arm, etc.

However AJ is busting his butt without much help from the WRs and as many of you have pointed out...his coaching. Give the kid his props. This was one of his better games(that maybe unfortunate). He is a Tiger and clearly fighting. I for one am proud of his efforts.

He's a Tiger. For that reason...I'm proud of him.

The band, cheerleaders, trainers, students, fans, waterboys, etc. are also Tigers so I'm proud of them as well...but just like Jennings, I don't want to see any of them attempting to run the offense.

We gave Jennings all season so nobody can legitimately say he lacks experience. We've barely averaged double digits in our past four conference games. That's troubling and isn't something which will magically improve next spring.

What AJ did last night (maybe one of his best - but far from great) would be hard to replicate against a quality defense. It would also be easy to recognize and scheme if they attempted it every game. Without adding even a minimal passing attack, this team's record will unlikely improve next season. That's not negative...just a reality.
